For me Baines looks better when Pienaar is on the pitch but Pienaar looks better when Baines isn't on the pitch.

I went with McCarthy for MOM although I thought Stones had a great game. I forgot he was playing which is a very good thing for a young Centre Back playing against then awkward pair of bastards Carroll and Nolan. Distin stood up to them well also.

I was listening to Martinez on the radio and he reckoned we were creating chances, initially I though that was bollocks as we has loads of possession but then I couldn't remember their keeper making in a save in the 1st half, apart for Naismith's angled shot that even I would have saved, not a criticism as it was from a tight angle.

But then we did have 3 chances at the Gwladys St end in the 2nd half where we hit the post, in fact those 3 chances where pretty much the same move with Pienaar going close. So if my dodgy memory serves me right we scored 1 goal from 4 good chances.

Is that really enough?

Ended a run of 5 matches without a clean sheet and Baines got his first assist of the season.

Not bad.

Saw match of the day. Was out of the way for the game. Shit! That was crucial ;-) My Evertonian blue blood wasn't happy. Missed the game, was in amongst all these smart arses who thought? I was rude? not listening to their Ideas of the proletariat and worldliness, because the phone and the net, and the blues, was obviously more important to me than them.  Great for the win.  Buzzing!! "Come on You mighty blues"!!!! 3 points aint an equasion. This silly post is for the younger lads. :-)

Hard to believe...but, yeah, looked it up and it's true. Leighton's first assist.

If you'd told me before the season he wouldn't get his first assist until March, I'd have thought we'd be in the relegation zone.
Everton forever.

Someone said that he is perfect except his creating and shooting. I agree with that. He is technically superb and that's why I love him but he will never score enough goals. It's just not good enough for someone playing in his position. He is so good in possession, I wondered if he could play central in the Osman/Barkley position.

I agree that ideally he'd get more goals.

But I think a more easily solved solution is to get the players i.e. Mirallas and Barkley who are meant to be the goal scorers to score more often.

Pienaar's role is to link the play which he does excellently.

Of course that's why he's playing for us and not a very top team as the final product isn't consistent or frequent enough for title challenging or regular CL sides.

Baines not being there either consciously or subconsciously makes him look pretty much constantly to that side.

So yeah I can see that point.

Yeah that was a great bit of skill but I'd left that out deliberately as it wasn't a chance created as a team, more an individual moment of brilliance from outside the area. It had nothing whatsoever at all to do with me forgetting about it!!
