This.

Be nice to see some metal and determination in midfield from the boys, even the occasional flash of intelligence/creativity?

          Joel
Coleman Jags Distin Baines
            Barkley
 McCarthy Besic McGeady
           Naismith
            Kone

Score prediction? Not confident so would take 1-1. But on a normal day we should beat them 2-0.

Possibly, just siding with those saying he needs a go at playing more deep and creating things from there, will give him a bit more time on the ball as well. I'm neutral on whether this would suit him, but people have been barracking the manager for it in some quarters.

You'd take a 1-1? What good would that do us? You're taking this socialism thing too far ;)

Looking for a fresh mentality from the lads, forget the league for now, shackles off and try to play with some freedom, rather than with the weight of the world on their shoulders. Could be the turning point we're all hoping for, as the post near the top suggests.

Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

We've had as many turning points this season, as the rs in the past 10!

Strong team?! A left back in midfield, a left back at left wing, distin and hibbert as well? A team with 3 left backs, a right back that can't get up with play as we need would be like Robertos last two teams, asking for a defeat.

Get back to the system we know. McCarthy is likely to be out but stones back so get our best back 4 out to give our best chance of a clean sheet, Coleman stones jags Baines. Have Barry and besic in front of them, 2 actual central midfielders. And have at least 2 of Barkley, Naismith and mirallas off Lukaku or kone probably Lukaku because 3 games in a week would be a lot for kone in my opinion.

We can't go into this game with that weak a team playing people out of position. If he played that team and we lost he would rightly get pelters and I think it would push a lot of people over the edge from being concerned but wanting to back him and get it right to thinking he has lost the plot completely and feel his time is coming to an end.

We need a strong team and a performance that can get us believing we aren't in free fall and there is light at the end of the tunnel. And that's ignoring the fact the FA Cup is our best chance at this season not being a complete disaster. Strongest team possible please and hopefully a confidence boosting win ahead of city.

He didn't say strong team though. He said string team :)

Think that's a strong team myself with only one player being out of position in Baines. Oviedo can play left mid, no matter how many times you try to tell people that he can't, and would offer energy, natural width and a directness that we've been lacking from the left all season.

Hibbert has been sound this season and got motm this season against west ham. I don't think playing hibbert would weaken us that much, Infact it may well strengthen us defensively.

It's all well and good saying play our best team, but we've got man city at the weekend and that has to take priority. We lose that and we could find ourselves 1 point off the bottom 3. No point in risking McCarthy or stones (our 2 most important players IMO) only for then to get injured and miss the city game.

That team is good enough to beat west ham and could give the opportunity for the likes of garbutt, Kone and Oviedo to stake a serious claim. I'd rather that than just sticking with the under performers and playing players who are half fit. Take them out the firing line, let McCarthy and stones get fully fit so we go into what is a massive game on Saturday with what could be our strongest 11 for the first time this season.

The city game has to take priority.
