On the plus side though they have proper ultra groups with organised out-of-town brawls and everything. Though there's no clashing with the police for obvious reasons.

they not planning to anytime soon, they throwing money at the league to grow it and then make it commercial. it might fail but to think that we the target audience is laughable.

Who else would be? As we've already proven, there is no way they can break even, not with this strategy. It's a PR project. But if they only wanted to impress Vietnam or the other countries around them, there would be easier and more reliable ways to do that.

Most Prem league clubs won't sell out a 58 000 seater stadium. mac City don't and they have the best players. in the league and the best manager.  They trying to spend big to attract decent quality to improve the product they offering as well a simproving the quality of coaching, players and professionalism all around.

Manchester is a small town with half a million people in it, and it has one of the world's most popular clubs as City's local rival. But of course even City average a much higher attendance than Evergrande: the most successful team in a country of a billion people. Their only local rivals are Guangzhou R&F, who never even got close to winning the league, and they share a province that is more populous than the UK.

As I said, the numbers don't add up.

Unless of course you realise that the whole programme is about improving the country's image in Europe. If you look at it in that light, all the expenses suddenly make sense.  The money the state spends on football is chickenfeed compared to any other way they could possibly try to make our first association to not be Tibet, Tienanmen Square or counterfeit goods. As @Bluedylan says, another part of the same programme is buying European football clubs.

The only other option would be that the Chinese are complete idiots. But I don't for a moment think they are. Do you?

The Chinese bubble will probably burst in ten years, but in the meantime it's a good way to get rid of all the money-grabbing cunts from our football.

That wopper Neil Ashton was saying that West ham should retract their award of 'Hammer of the year' last year!  I'm sure Payet will really give a shit lol

As Michael McIntyre said in his (only) joke: it'd be like taking away Josef Fritzl's "Dad of the Year" mug. :)

He'll cash in on Van Aanholt to secure loan fees and it may work to be fair to him but the Sunderland fans are livid, you'd think they'd blame the board.

Or the dozen or so wastrels they employed before Moyes.

If he turned out to be brilliant I don't think they would get him back for any less than 50m, the days of us being bullied are over, just ask Lukaku and Barkley

Unless they put in a buy-back clause, which they almost certainly have. It's the new trend for rich clubs reduce their risk: don't loan players, sell them with a buy-back clause. It's a win-win for them: if the player turns out to be good, they can get him back for practically nothing, if not, they've already cashed in on him.

Foolish of the buying team to agree to those terms, after all the big clubs can only keep so many players before they want to move on to play football, Sandro for example if he's not playing he wants to go elsewhere to get game time over and above salary or recognition of playing for Barca

But they want quality players. Not in 3 years time, now. Because if you fall out of the PL, it's a complete financial meltdown. So you take whatever option is offered to you. It's like payday loans, a really insidious trap and one there's no easy way out of, unless you've got a really, really good academy.

He might not be worth 50m as a right back but this is Guardiola we're talking about.

He'll actually be used as a false inverted trequartista water carrier

Carrilero is the word you're looking for :)

If Stones is worth 60, Walker is definitely worth 50 too.

Can't believe that Neymar deal is happening

It does make me think that maybe it's time for us to give up on football.

Probably the most creative thing they've ever done in their years as a prem club, on or off the pitch. Imagine supporting/playing for them

I guess playing for them must be great, Pulis is very big on team cohesion.

I liked the story of the lad who signed for Luton Town tonight.

You know, there are players who are allowed to leave the international training camp for half a day to sign the contract, whereas he had to ask for his shift in the local Tesco to be cancelled.

Proper enigma is Rodwell.

Seems to have absolutely no desire to play football.

That's not really surprising, there are other players too who only see it as a job. And he got bored/unhappy with his job.
