We've played alright, but all the half chances have pretty much fallen to Ossie, and his shots have only just about reached the keeper, let alone beaten him (although he's played well generally).
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

We need our players who excel in tight spaces like Ossie and Baines on the ball as much as possible if we're to break these down

More encouraging signs from Ross generally again. Good movement and use of the ball.

Niall Quinn is doing my fucking nut in.

Once we score which I think we will, it's going to be a good scoreline. Currently touching wood, crossing my fingers and all sorts of daft nonsense. ::)

Lukaku's not keen on 50/50's with a goalkeeper.

No, always seem to come off worse by not committing. Bit annoying.

It's as if he's trying to look like he's committing but in reality he's hanging back.

Predictable I suppose. Maybe play another striker up with Lukaku? I think we could afford to sacrifice one of our two DMs.

The passing in their 1/3 has been really crisp so that's something at least.

Decent first half display really. Osman has had a couple of half chances as well as the best chance of the half which forced a decent save from Pantilimon. Barkley looks like he might be able to pull off a bit of magic and if Lukaku stops shitting out then he might have a chance. There's definitely the chance of a win in this for us.

On the positive side, what class by Aaron Lennon creating what should have been a beautiful goal from the broken up chance.  Had Ossie shot it anywhere other than.  Right.  At.  The.  Keeper.

I'm waiting for inevitable commentary as a substitute comes on: "And here comes xxxxx who hasn't scored in 399 years.... Oh, he's only gone and done it!!!"

Aye, the Guardian seem to be enjoying whats been on show so far.....

"They’re nearly opened up here, though. Osman has been brilliant today, and he nearly sets one up, then nearly scores one. He slides a ball down the inside-left channel for Lukaku, who looks to dink one over Pantilimon as he enters the area. The keeper saves brilliantly. The ball breaks to Osman to the right of the D. His shot is heading into the bottom right - but that one’s parried by the keeper too! Sheer brilliance by the keeper. Brown is booked for a disgraceful lunge on McCarthy in the middle of all that. Clumsy more than malicious, but he clanked the Everton midfielder’s standing leg. Ooyah, oof."

Poetic license?
