Steinbeck's maxim: “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.

Keeper - Kahn
Defenders - Cafu, Hierro, Maldini, Carlos
Midfield - Messi, Maradona, Zidane,
Strikers - Bergkamp, Ronaldo (the Brasilian version), Batistuta

Reckon there's a couple of goals there.

Eh, left Le Tiss out and I've already got at least four players in his position. :)

Can't believe I forgot Bergkamp.  He'd probably be on my bench inplace of Henry.

I'm all for childhood legends being included, however i'm not sure how anyone can honestly omit C Ronaldo or Messi from their side.

Because fat Ronaldo at his peak was just absolutely ridiculous, and putting two players with the same name in my team would have been too much for Gazza to comprehend.

It's an impossible ask. I'd like to have seen Figo in my line up too, but simply no room.

If it's impossible to keep Ronaldo and Messi out, it's also impossible to keep Zidane out too.

Or Maradona. Or Platini. Or Zidane. Or Bergkamp. Or Gullit. Or Henry. Or Gazza.

There are just too many players who were amazing, so I tried to choose some who hadn't been mentioned yet. It's all a bit of fun.

Stoichkov was superb. Laudrup too....the list goes on. I really wanted to find a place for George Weah but alas.

C Ronaldo hasn't probably hit the heights in big internationals enough for me. But yes, hard to also leave out.

Another couple of mentions - Romario and Gheorghe Hagi
