Genuinely gutted for England's Women, that was such an unlucky goal. Hindsight is a wonderful thing and what Basset did was a natural reaction but despite what Karen Carney says that the striker would have scored anyway, the defender had it covered. They may well have lost in ET or on penalties but that was cruel for Basset to score, really hard for them to take that.

Well done to them, they've carried themselves off very well and many a male counterpart could take a leaf out of their book.

It's the "Today's Football" thread, lets keep it that way and it pack it in rather than having a "lets see who we can offend today" thread.

Have to be honest I didn't see Blarg's initial comment, I thought it was only daft American's on Twitter that were coming out with that kind of thing. In cases like this, in the future if anyone is offended or feel they are being abused use the report button or PM one of us and we'll look at it but can we keep it off the forum or the thread will end up getting deleted, people weighing in with their tuppence worth doesn't always help.

That's the last being said on it.

The mods that look after the BBC tweets have a sense of humour letting this on one.  :snigger:

Fuck them, makes an absolute mockery of the competition. 11 changes from the first leg and three making debut's. This is a club that like to think they're a big fish yet they throw their first chance in years at European football, it's a clear indication that the club are still shitting themselves about filling the Olympic Stadium and need the Premier League when they're happy to be knocked out by a team that probably aren't much better than Leyton Orient.

West Brom getting stuffed. Can't understand that, they've brought players in and spent money surely.

I see the Staffordshire Galacticos are 2-0 down to Spurs. Still don't think it's healthy bringing in 12-13 new players in one go.

West Ham getting pumped 2-0 at home to Leicester as well. They must be quite high on the spending league as well?

Haha, the irony of Man City's medical team having patch up Costa while the Chelsea staff were patching up Cahill.

Has Moreno been injured or is he just another bit of thorough Rodgers scouting where he'd decided he's not good enough? A right back at left back and a centre back at right while you've got two left backs doing nothing, seems reasonable?

Not offside, just standing directly in front of the keeper trying to stretch for the ball. Defo not offside that. FFS

He's made a move for the ball which under the new rule should be offside.

Blatant dive from Henderson too. Retroactive punishment incoming...nope.

He's got straight back up and played on though, it's not like he's made a right meal of.

People's judgement tends to go a bit wonky just because it's them playing. Same with their disallowed goal, I'd fucked off if it had stood against us.

why is Martin Tyler applauding Henderson for trying to deceive the referee?

Because he's sitting at home watching on tv. ;)
