watching the 7-1 & 4-1, shit Pienaar really was fucking good. I miss him :(

I remember us releasing a DVD of the 7-1 win, proper cringeworthy

Not that bothered about the line-up or tactical formation, it's all about intensity. We need to step it up big time and play for 90 minutes. Do this and the result will come.

I don't think I appreciated him enough when he was healthy. I always thought he lacked an end product, but having seen us struggle to break teams down without him, and seen how Baines has been, while not bad, not nearly as amazing, has made me realize I was wrong.

Don't care how we do it, don't care about the team sheet we put out, don't care about anything but winning this one.

This interview is going to stir things up pre-match:

Howard: I don't mind the criticism because I think my body of work speaks for itself. I don't have to say a word.

The word 'hellacious' ?
Jeff: That's not the way to win.
Kathie: Is there a way to win?
Jeff: There's a way to lose more slowly.

Must win this one really, isn't it. Anything else and the knives will be out.

Swerving this place for a few days if we don't win. Will be toxic.

Not looking forward to this game at all. Plus it's at 1-30 which screws up the whole day.

Would love to see us go at them from the start. Seems like we only really start going for it once we concede. We're a better team than Sunderland, we're at home, it's fucking Sunderland... If we attack from the beginning, we should be winning this.

Looking forward to this. We haven't had a shit team to play against for quite a while. If we don't win this in our current 'moment'* (cheers Roberto*) swerve will be the optimum word.

Steinbeck's maxim: “Socialism never took root in America because the poor see themselves not as an exploited proletariat but as temporarily embarrassed millionaires.”.

This is a big opportunity to put our season back on track and to set ourselves up nicely for the run of games we've got between now and the end of the year.  We're good enough to turn them over and do that if we play to our strengths from the start.

That said, I'm very worried that they're going to be launching loads of crosses in to our box and that we're going to struggle to cope with them as per recent games.

It would be really nice if we didn't concede the first goal as well.
