My god, what is Martinez thinking off. This guy is terrible and certainly not EPL standard. The likes of Drogba and Rooney will rip him several new arseholes. He should have gone to Boro, that might just about be his standard. A good example of someone who is not nearly as good as his ego thinks he is.

He held Celtic to ransom, and now they are getting rid. Sad thing is the highlight of his career is past him, he will never play CL football again. Still, the money should soften the blow a bit.  :wanker:

Yeah, he has some good sides, but generally he's just a player with no positional sense and very little guile.

Celtic should be happy to get rid.

He never held Celtic to ransom at all. £20k a week is still well below the highest earners at Celtic, which is what he wanted.

Which obviously they thought he wasn't worth.

But they did before Christmas. Caldwell told them he wanted to concentrate on the league and renew talks later in the season.

Edit - This was Christmas 2008, not 2009.

Good of him to stick to his word then.

I just don't think he's EPL class. Can't say I blame him for wanting to play at this level, but I could see it blowing up in his face.

Doesn't really matter though, Gash, it's not as if he's coming to Everton.

I don't have Sky so I don't get to see much football apart from the English leagues, but if he's as bad as you're making out then he'll make a great partnership with Bramble. :snigger:

Gary Caldwell will not last long at Wigan, just like Andy Webster before him. I wouldn't be surprised if he complained about being homesick like some of the other Scots in recent times who played in the Premier League.

They also signed Gohouri another centerback who's a bloody headless chicken...their best center back is still Titus Bramble!!!

To be honest, Caldwell does look fairly shit, but he probably won't look out of place.

Alan Hutton is class. I can't believe he sits on the bench all the time down with Spurs.

I'd take him in a second. Not all Scottish players are crap. :)

Spurs have an obsession with buying too many full backs

it used to be midfielders, but they seem to have moved onto full-backs of late...
