Spurs survived after Bale was sold and are actually stronger for it in all other departments

Only due to now having a decent manager.

They bought some utter tosh with the Bale money.

I kind of agree, but if Spurs still had Bale now in my opinion they would have won something by now. I believe they are one star player off of being one of the top, top clubs in the league. They don't really have a weakness in the entire squad, but they also don't have that really magic player which I really think they need to move to the next and highest level, Bale would obviously fit that.

But you are right, £80m is a lot of money and if we were to get that we could follow Tottenham's lead in the way they've built thier squad.

That being said, I'm still convinced he will sign.

Also helped that Kane's arrival came at the same time

Have we got a free scoring twenty year old in our youth set up who can take over the mantle? Look at Liverpool and how far they have fallen since they sold Suarez and rebuilt
Simply simply lovely

And as @Robioto says, what they'd give for a player like him now to play on the right for them. They'd be brilliant as they lack someone who can take people on.

It's always easier to sell good players than it is to buy them. So we might be better off but we'd be pretty lucky to be so.

If you have to deal with it, then so be it. But it's not something that we should be looking to do.

It's also not something we should look upon with horror either. If we would be faced with potentially selling Lukaku and we were still under Kenwright's stewardship then I'd have cause to worry, however under Moshiri the club as a whole is moving in the right direction and we'd probably have a contingency plan as well as all the money to plough back into the squad.

However if Koeman and Lukaku were to go in the summer.....

Which is one reason we have Walsh. The manager has less influence over things at the club now compared to before.

The buy out fee is the sticking point. 90 mill plays in to our hands as not many would pay it. 60-70 which is supposedly what he wants suggests to me at least he's keen on a nice because some would pay that... I'd split the difference and call it 80... 5 mill less than Greizman... but he deffo wants a back door before signing. How hard do we play?

That's assuming Walsh likes and wants Koeman's style of play to persistent after he leaves

I guess that's basically a transfer request?
