Has @Gash  been lashing posts around and splitting threads?

I'm seeing a couple of posts above quoting EiNC from another thread.
When i click on the quote i get a 404.

Couple of other things twisting my melon as well

Without fail.

I think we're now into standard Everton mode.

What we have done is the new regime way of thinking "lets just smash the really important stuff first".
Now we're into the normal, Everton "let's see what comes up for a reasonable price" mode. We have places to fill but "will go with what we have" or wait for an injury to come back so it can be "like a new signing".

The only abberation for that, to me, is Lukaku. It wasn't a certainty he would leave when we ligned up Pickford/Keane/Klaassen, Sandro & Rooney and if he is in our team now? Well, we're all much more optimistic aren't we.

So a replacement for him is the only outlier to my theory and we get to see whether the new regime is good at reacting to stuff as well as they proved they can plan for stuff this summer.

Mourinho would have to be totally off his rocker if he sanctions that. Him up front every game for us is a potential 20 goal a season striker and could blow up in his face.

I think the butty man has a vivid imagination.

He's let us have a 20 goal a season striker on loan before....

"We lost Funes Mori to injury & looking to replace him"
Koeman says he is also looking for another striker and "maybe one more player".
That "one more player" was heavily hinted to be Sigurdsson.

So:
Pickford
Keane
Backup centre half (more in the price range/expectation level of Funes Mori when we brought him in i'd bet)
Klaassen
Sandro
Rooney
Sigurdsson (maybe)
Giroud (maybe)

A load of kids

That is a good window despite losing Barkley & Lukaku.
But i get what @brap2 is saying. I wanted 1 star player/CL player in. I'm a bit down that we did that and it was Rooney. Even though i completley understand the reasons.

I'd forgot Martina as well actually.
That's easy enough to do though.

Home win 2-1 Lukaku

As usual.

Except we only ever won by that score once or twice
Lukaku's assists were more important than his goals in terms of points won. And we've got them covered.

If Rooney and/or new boy can sort 15 replacement goals out then we're sound

Pickford
Stek
Robles

Martina     Keane  Williams  Baines
Kenny       Jags    FM
Holgate
Coleman

                Gueye   schneiderlin
                Davies   Barry
                McCarthy Besic

DCL             Klaassen            Mirallas
Lennon        Barkley              Bolassie
                                           Lookman

                     Rooney
                     Sandro

Much more work to be done imo.

3 players? (CM who can play left back, attacking midfielder to replace Barkley and a striker).

Which, coincidentally, seems to be exactly what we are in the market for!

Maybe his agent telling us it was 99.9% done was coupled with lukaku giving us assurances.

So all the work we do from Feb 1st was targeted elsewhere (keepers, centre half's, central middle) and then lukaku pulled the rug and we had a few months of work to cram in from May onwards.

Otherwise yeah, we should have sorted something. (As long as the right level of striker was willing to sign early on. Like Sandro for example.)

I don't get where all this negativity is coming from

We've struggled to create chances against some really shite opposition.
We are very light up front.
People genuinely thought we would be buying players that would have us challenging for the league and the above two things have made them all have to reasses.

Current squad is good enough for 7th and people aren't happy with that because they wanted more.

Also, there are a lot of massive stress-heads who just love to fucking moan regardless of the situation.

Slightly stressed there are no serious links out there.

Koeman saying he would consider loan deals but "only for the best" would indicate there is nothing immediately on the cards either

I agree. Teams have already started their season and have in the main planned accordingly. No-one will let their top players go at this stage, apart from the real big bids at the upper level.

We may have to try a real big mid at the 'best of the rest' level then.
