While it absolutely helps to have the recovery pace, and I'd prefer all our defenders to have it, it shouldn't be the be all and end all of it. He should be positionally smart enough to not get himself in that predicament.

Ah yes that old chestnut!  He does weirdly seen to be fit I'll grant that. Just think he should be a stone less.

I agree. He tries to get touch tight too often and gets caught out for it. Not the brightest or the quickest.

I think we all know that fitness and pace might be related but they aren't identical - being ideal weight helps your pace but losing a couple stone won't get you on par with Usain Bolt

Also recovery pace is all that

At least if we want to play quality football instead of sitting with 10 behind the ball and hitting teams on the break
