We're too sloe for a 3-5-2, You need two athletic full-backs and at least one elite CB, we have none of that.

 4-3-3 for me. One DM

              Pickford
Kenny Keane Jags Baines
               Gana
         Davies Rooney/Sig
Lennon                  Vlasic
              Niasse

 :bonk:

Everton played 3-5-2 in the draw against  Man. City (22 Aug.) , though City went down to 10 men at HT.

Also, Everton played 3-5-2 when we beat them 4-0 at Goodison in Jan., 20016 - the side was: Holgate, Williams, Mori; Coleman, Davies, Barry, Barkley, Baines; Lukaku, Mirallas

Are you sure we don't have the players to work on this formation? It means pressing higher up the pitch to gain more control of midfield, but it doesn't need to have the backs bombing on all the way as wingers. Having four across the back is too static and slow going forward and if we press high we leave ourselves open to a ball over the top on a quick counter.

So, which one was the elite CB?

Backs need to press higher in midfield to support  attack, even if not used as full blown wing backs. IMO

Doing something once and never again should probably be considered a one off.

We also had Coleman, Barkley and one of the best strikers in Europe.
