Is he really that wide of the mark with this statement though? Newcastle as a city and a club are notoriously delusional and West Ham have wealthy backers, a brand new stadium and a mouthy fanbase. I would imagine both of those clubs think 7th place is quite easily attainable and they'd both be right, in the right circumstances.
We're in the pack of mediocre clubs whether we like it or not and no-one, other than Evertonians, really think we've a right to be any better than the rest.

True to a point, and on the face of it correct.
But 7th isn't our "aim".

Both those clubs will have the same aspirations as us (they both want champs league football and to have a reasonable chance of mounting a league challenge). But they will still be looking at "get 7th and look to push on".

We are a step ahead of them. Or, we believed we were.

You almost get the sense he’s deliberately trying to inflame the fanbase.

Comparing us to West Ham and Newcastle. You wouldn’t get journalists coming out with that shite, never mind our manager.

Can’t wait for some of my RS mates to catch on to this comment.

Todays soundbites are right up there with Koeman telling Lukaku to pack his bags and head for the hills.
There are only two things I can't stand in this world. People who are intolerant of other people's cultures... and the Dutch.

I put it in the feedback thread.

If you delete the last few characters from the 's=' sign if usually fixes it. For some reason mine all have 's=19' at the end.

@Shogun figured it out.

People are being way too harsh on Lardiola.

It's not like he can change the tactics, or give different players a go, or motivate players rather than blaming them.

He can't do any of that; his sausage fingers are tied.
Yes, we're being condescending. Yes, that means we're talking down to you.

We've conceded 105 shots, 38 on target, in last 6 games. We only had 3 shots on target against West Brom and 2 in the other 5 games. We are 18th in the league for shots on target with average of 2.91 per game, and 18th in the league for shots on target against, with 5.13 per game.

Allardyce was in bottom 5 for most shots faced at both seasons at West Ham, and was 20th for shots on target faced when at Sunderland. Allardyce has never had a positive record at any of his clubs, has always lost more games than he's won.

Now im not the kind of person who says I told you so, but I did like

Some of us even made complete asses out of ourselves about it (really, I'm not proud of that aspect, I don't like losing self-restraint).  But please, nobody ever try to say again that this was a normal, rational move, that any other similarly situational club would have made.

Not if they had done the slightest bit of due diligence, and/or had a trace of dignity/self-respect.  This was all 100% predictable.  This is who he is, and who he has always been.
