Even though people say it's the team and to an extent you can blame that his stats overall this season are poor. 4 goals compared to 11 at the same stage last year, shooting accuracy only 52%, shot conversion just 13% and 'big chance conversion' down from 59% last year to 33% this year. He can't keep blaming eveyone else, sooner or later he and others need to stand up and be counted. World class players make things happen rather than wait for someone else to do it for them.

I like Lukaku but did always wonder why as many of those on that forum complain about he often gets nullified when the opposition have a couple of physical CBs. He'll rarely win battles in that situation. His physicality seems to be best when he's coming in off wider positions.

They really do dislike him on there. Although there are a couple of voices who point out it's to do with the system there. One of mentioned if you drop Aguero in there would it really get any better and I tend to agree. Perhaps someone like Kane might help them more with the build up but still it'd probably be a limited improvement. There is a bit of a similarity with Tosun here in the early part of the season, in that he's not really getting many chances to miss.

It’s partly everything else going wrong too. Though some of his basics are very up and down.
He seems to believe pointing for passes that aren’t there counts as movement and the odd thing he does when he has a token jump for a header he’s 5 yards away from touching is a bit annoying. Oh and his touch/keepy uppy skills are dreadful

He’s obviously good enough for this Utd team (they are quite shite) but almost every top side here and in Europe have a forward a tier or 2 above him.
He’s probably too good for us and probably never be good enough to play for a side with genuine chances to win the league or champions league.

It really does amuse me how unpopular he is though

When I watch him now I don't see a player who has improved since he left. If anything he's gone backwards as he seems to be carrying a lot more weight these days so he isn't able to peel away down the channels and burn defenders for pace anymore.

A couple of mates are season ticket holders at OT and they say his movement is poor. He seems to have the same trait he had with us of pointing for balls that aren't on and not following it up with a run, which their fans have picked up on too.

His record overall stands up to anyone else in world football for his age though.

He is looking very heavy these days. I still maintain it's the system more than the player though. I think he'd flourish under an attack minded coach.

Meant to post this last week, quite an interesting article about him in the MEN.

Not sure how true this is but ive just been sent this:
best few stats I’ve seen in a while:
Romelu Lukaku is one half of football away from going 1,000 minutes without scoring for Man Utd 😱

🏟 Since his last goal at Old Trafford:

⚽ Man City have scored 83 goals
👔 Real Madrid have had 3 managers
🤑 Alexis Sanchez has picked up £12,000,000 in wages
Born not made a blue .

Hanging out with Pogba all the time can't have helped either.
