He wont be on massive money and would be better than almost any back up/ option.

Dont see any need to force him out at all.

You can rest your case @Mayor Farnum

No-one should be bullet-proof, let alone a 33 year old with his best days well behind him. I'm not advocating forcing him out but am in favour of a more focused Everton that will only make decisions based on what a player, manager or coach can produce in the future. Moving Baines on will signal a look to the future, giving him upwards of fifty grand a week to be a sub and cup game specialist because he's been a rare bright spark in the last ten years is empty sentiment. I feel this way about all players.

Think weve shown ruthless attitude re Rooney.

Has Baines only one more year?

Seems more sensible than signing two LBs, one who has to be as good as Baines was in his peak (or at least with potential to be close to that level).

It's hard to say what we've shown with regards to Rooney as it was a funny sort of transfer that's been rumbling for a while; but if we can be ruthless with him why not other older members of the squad?
Whether Baines has got one year or three he still needs replacing and, as with all transfers, you aren't always going to get like for like or an immediate improvement. But a younger, fitter left back with the potential to improve will be good for the team right now.

Cant just bin everyone. It is ok to have some experienced heads, especially in a position that we are literally thread bare in.

Tierney or whoever would be that player no?

Dont see the need to move Baines on now, as that would mean wed need a back up player as well this summer.

Baines may be past his best but he's still one of our best players, therefore it makes no sense to move him on at all.

.................................Jags and Baines are proper Blues and deserve a bit of leeway ,not to mention a proper send-off. People have been getting all sentimental over the likes of Klaassen ,Robles and Funes-Mori who have contributed nothing and needed moving on.
We are special ,we are Everton.

From a pure footballing point of view it makes zero sense to move Baines on this season
