If your defence and midfield is good, and you develop a super star they have a platform to shine AND the club kick on.
If your defence and midfield still have gaping holes in them and you develop a superstar, you sell him for big money as the boat fills with more water behind you.
I sort of agree, but it hasnt necessarily always been the quality of defence and midfield that's let us down, we had some good players but managers that cant organise a defensive unit, like Martinez and Silva.
We have Carlo now. He has his preferred style but he's not unreasonable with a "philosophy", he'll do what it takes to get the result and he has us organised again.
The manager has always been the key first ingredient we've been missing. I feel like if we can now build some quality at the back and through the middle, we can push on.
