Anyone heard anything on Gueye? He was tremendous in our little run in at the end of the season.

Yeh I thought he stepped it up a level after the PSG move didn't come off, which is testament to the lad. Although if we do have to balance the squad and books to get more quality in he does look the most likely to bring in decent money. Be sad to see him leave but I'd be surprised if we're not planning for that eventuality should it happen.

Still think Zouma's more important, and I don't think we've got the midfield sorted either, but happy with this for a good value starter for the summer.

Id like to get both, but I think we've got more chance of getting a comparable player to replace Zouma (maybe Mina if he can stay fit?), than we would of Gomes. IMO the quality of Gomes over and above other players in our squad is massive and £22 million is really good business

Vlasic out Gomes in, minimal spend so far this summer but we’ve got the midfield sorted.

We're so, so far from having the midfield sorted?

Vlasic wasn't here last year and Gomes was. So, today, we are in exactly the same place as we were throughout last year.
And last year the midfield was a major problem against any team who planned on sitting deep against us.

Which will be a lot of them next year, looking around.

Yeah would like another midfielder or 2, it's not complete

I hope to god were in for a striker, we cant start the season with DCL niasse and Tosun, not maximising our potential if we do

Yeh fair point, wrong terminology. I was trying to outline (badly) that we have managed to sort out and retain the first choice midfield that did so well in run in for us.

As much as there are some who highlight Gomes' less than impressive output in terms of stats he's a player most of the league would like in their squad. If we can manage to find a way for him to deliver more in the final third, which might mean solving the Sig conundrum, then the fee will look more of a bargain than it appears.

Guardian has it as well. Quite happy for this. Hopefully we can get a deal done for Big Kurt!
