It was a three contract. Hopefully we can get a couple of quid for him in the summer.

A 3 year-contract for a poor player that Koeman signed twice, and that no one else wanted, is surely proof if it were needed, that it was a dodgy, Allardyce style deal.

Three years is short compared to the usual 4-5 year deals we give out. I think he was just a cheap option as stand in while Coleman was out injured, nothing more.

I’m sure he would’ve accepted less

Possibly, I don't really see the issue to be honest. He got a three year deal, probably on pretty low wages and three years gives us half a chance to recoup some money on him. If not, we'll probably just loan him out again next season and he can ride off into the sunset after that.

Wouldn’t imagine it’s that low considering the other contracts we were throwing around at the time.

You never know, Gerrard, could be the making of him. Despite all the hatred for him, he was still a fantastic midfielder. The ideal English type player for Gerrard to advise and get him more clued up.

After due consideration by the clubs coaching staff, choices of loan clubs are limited to the players ability. I think Gerrard would improve him, personally. The players destination when going out on loan, is pretty much a lottery as to whether it will improve him as a player. I don't like Gerard either, but that shouldn't stand in the way of his progress, and hopefully, his improved ability.

Gerrard might, but that league won’t.

Championship or maybe Holland where you can just do whatever you want in attack and express yourself.

Dowell was a good Championship player last season and the standard of the Championship is much higher than that of the Scottish Premiership.

He'll have better offers.

I'm not so sure he will, partway through a season. Playing in front of a full house every other week and being expected to perform by a manager with high standards might be the best we can hope for in January. Granted the standard won't be high but it's regular football, which he's not getting at the moment. It won't be a bad backstop if no-one else of note comes in for him.

Mirallas just scored in the final minute to rescue a point for Fiorentina at 3-3
