Which is weird, as they were selling out Maine Road in the 2nd division. They have a huge fan base, so what has changed?
Something i genuinely struggle to wrap my head around. I always just assumed the people talking about "selling souls" were chatting nonsense.
They may have been onto something.

Maine Rd wasn’t that big though

Also think their average was big for 3rd tier but wasn’t a complete sell out every game. So I don’t think they’d always had 15k people who couldn’t get in.

Overall though, outside of London, the only teams with bigger av attendances are either the one club in the city or who benefit from very sizeable non local attendees.

And potentially us :)

I just wonder if they maxed out their fan base at Maine Road. Did they in fact just have a small bit incredibly partizan fan base who all went the match?

Yes. It is something to consider with us too.

And it’s something that the club will have some way of analysing by being able to see how often non season ticket holders go etc.
