Man U wanted him, the Club said we dont want you to go.

He stayed.

This is a great read.

Seems like these two had a great relationship off the pitch as well as on it.
Hey there mister can you tell me what happened to the seeds I've sown
Can you give me a reason sir as to why they've never grown

I honestly don't think you can have as good a partnership as these two without being great mates as well. When you know someone so well, you know what they are going to do, how they think, and so reacting to this on a football pitch becomes second nature.

Certainly the best partnership I have witnessed in my time as an Everton fan, where they both together were much more than the sum of their respective parts.

I can't think of a more liked individual in football than Bainesy. Just an all round great guy and the best of luck to him whatever he chooses next.

When I saw him outside The Quarter he was reading a manuscript. I wondered at the time if it was his own.
I knew that someday I was going to die, and I knew that before I died, two things would happen to me. That number one; I would regret my entire life, and number two; that I would want to live my life over again.

And to complement them we had Osman and Hibbert/Neville in the right side. Still a better midfield than the current team.
