Title: Everton v Stoke
Post by: blargins on October 02, 2009, 10:00:54 am
Howard

Hibbert Heitinga Distin Baines

Gosling Osman Fellaini Bilya

Cahill

Saha

If Yobo and Rodwell aren't fit for this one, I reckon that will be the line up.

If so, 3-1 to us with another Saha brace and Cahill bagging the other.

so glad the pienaar injury isn't as bad as first thought, seemed terrible when it first happened. i'd have him on the bench, sub him for osman if we seem to be having trouble.

Another big physical side that won't let us play the type of football we want to see us play. Crappy, scrappy game,we'll win by the odd goal.

2-0, should be a set piece off, but they don't have a Billy. Saha brace, one volleyed free kick, one turn and finish.

I nearly put 5-0, I'm not even drunk... yet. :woohoo:

3-0 for sure. Can't see Stoke troubling us at home. Our pitch is too wide.

Don't expect a good game, not really bothered either, as long as we win, which normally we should.
I hope the Bate game hasn't taken too much out of the players, although Louis and Johnny will be playing, and let's hope some of the injured too, like Steven Pienaar.

Howard

Hibbert   Heitinga  Distin  Baines

Gosling*  Osman  Fellaini  Bilya

                       Cahill

                        Saha

* hopefully peanut will be fit and able to play, accourding to reports he should be ok.

Not too sure what Bily will make of the way Stoke play "football" I fully expect him to get plenty of clog early on. We should have too much for Stoke at home, so I'd go for 3-1 to us, Saha double and and maybe Felli or Cahill from a set piece. Stoke will obviously score from a set piece.

Hibbert---Heitinga---Distin---Baines

2-1 to us. Cahill and Saha.

I'd like to think we've got the energy to come back from Belarus and compete well in this game. Will be invaluable to have 3 fresh players in Neill, Heitinga and Saha ready to play. Whether all 3 of them are utilised - I would think so. I personally would play:

Howard
Heitinga, Neill, Distin, Baines
Gosling, Osman, Fellaini, Bily
Cahill
Saha

If Pienaar, Yobo and Rodwell are fit (surely they won't all be 100% fit - but I could be wrong) I would play them from the bench....as/when needed.

Scoreline - I'll take a win....a horrible 1-0 will do me.

Mahoney, why would you play at right back at centre back and a centre back at right back?

Assuming we still have our current injury list.

--------------- Howard ---------------

Hibbert - Heitinga - Distin - Baines

Osman - Fellaini - Cahill - Bilyaletdinov

------------ Yakubu - Saha ------------

With Saha returning and hopefully Pienaar being fit i can see us giving stoke a bit of a hammering so 4-0 if Yobo and pienaar are fit 3-1 if not.

I would like to se this line up , very interested to see how Cahill & Fellaini would play together in a 4 man midfield along with the Yak & Saha together.

4-4-2 should definitely be the way forward when we have a full squad available.

Quote from: blarginsMahoney, why would you play at right back at centre back and a centre back at right back?

Heitinga: 1,80 m
Neill: 1,86 m

We all know that Stoke will bombard us with the long throws and set pieces and pumps up the field, I think it would be a better idea to have a taller, physical player play in the center.  Plus, I believe you need a lot more fitness to play a wing back role than center back role and Heitinga also has the advantage there.  Hopefully Neill is as ready as he says he is.

The OS are saying that Hibbert is to play centre back, with Heitinga at right back.

I seriously hope that's not true. I understand that it'd be difficult for Heitinga to play centre back against Stoke, but he's playing a 5'8 right back against one of the tallest sides in the Prem?

We're playing pretty well; have a lot of time on their side.  They're just keeping 10 in the box and we're taking a lot of shots from well outside the box.

And Osman! Just barely missed a nice goal.

For the amount of set pieces we've had you'd have thought we should have had more shots on goal.

Billy's delivery has been a little hit and miss at the moment.

we missed bilyaletinov when he went off and yes we really do miss Piennar.
Cant wait for both to be fit, especially when we have Arteta back.
Nice to see the yak come on again, doesnt look sharp yet though, its frustrating knowing how good we could be when we have a fully fit squad with all the above availble.

Title: Everton v Stoke
Post by: fast lane on October 04, 2009, 11:03:56 am
Our winning streak was bound to end sooner or later.
The European game, and no Pienaar were factors in our not winning.
Nobody seemed to have many ideas attacking, shame, the lack of creativity.
It's not nice when we resort to hoofball.
Title: Everton v Stoke
Post by: Ridge on October 04, 2009, 11:17:15 am
Jo and Yak control let them down a bit towards the end off the game, both had great chances if their control was a bit better. We looked a bit off the pace, probably tired from our eurpean exploits.

Can't complain too much, I think a point was a fair result.
