Blue meets red at Goodison in arguably the biggest derby since the '05 one at Anfield. Both managers, and teams, under fire and needing a win to kick start their seasons. How do we see this one going?
0-3 Liverpool. Another gutless performance from Everton, not unlike the heartless, spineless shite they turned in against Liverpool last year in the league derby at Goodison.
Howard
Neill Yobo Distin Baines
Pienaar Heitinga Rodwell Bilyaletdinov
Fellaini
Saha
Heart says Everton 2 - 1 Liverpool
Head says Everton 0 - 3 Liverpool
I meant to put Cahill in for Fellaini, altough I do think Cahill needs a rest. Cahill looked all over the place against Hull. He was completely lost playing in a 4-4-2 without protection of a support striker and it showed.
However, Cahill will be able to get himself up for the derby and has a knack of scoring against Liverpool. I'm excited to see Heitinga in this one, he's passionate as fuck as it is and the derby needs no extra passion.
I can see a red in this one...or two.
As said before a vital match for both teams.
We need the 2nd half team at Hull, instead of the 1st half one.
I'll be reasonably pleased with a draw.
There's no reason why we shouldn't win it.
These derbys stand on their own.

I can't see Moyes going with 4-4-2 in a derby at Goodison. It'll be back to 4-5-1, thank God.
Doubt Rodwell will play. Picked up a groin strain last night.
Bore draw written all over it. Good to see the doom mongering is still out in force though. Keep up the good work kids!

Liverpool are the better team on paper and when both teams are playing bad, it'll be the class that will come through.
I can't see us being organised or passionate if last night was anything to go by. I don't see what the doom-mongering is there. The first goal is massive; if they get it, our heads will drop.

1-1. Saha for us, Gerrard for them.
We're so fucked, even though they're playing shite we have no hope in hell of breaching Reina's goal quite frankly this could be one of those embarrassing score lines... Maybe not a Wigan/Spurs embarrassing, but certainly one that the LFC fan's could well dine out at Maccie D's for a few seasons. Perhaps even bring out a DVD.
Rarely do these games end in scorelines as one sided as 0-3, players will get stuck in and it'll be sloppy and passionate. I'm hoping for a 2-1 win with cahill and heitinga to score.
We have to get off to a good start. I know we have been shite recently but they aint exactly setting the world alight. 1 - 0 to the Blues.
No confidence in us at the moment it's going to be awfull to watch us lose but I'll b there . . . . through thick and thin!!!
EFC 1-3 RS
I don't think we are out of the storm yet, I think the second half of december will be when we start playing.
A draw would do me fine, 0-0, 1-1, 2-2. But I think Liverpool will probably turn us over, 2-1 or 2-0, I'm half hoping they get a dubious decision to give us some unity and endeavour through a common sense of injustice.
On paper it should most definitely be a battle, which would normally suit us so you never know, but we haven't looked ready for battle for a while now.

I'd rather get the unity through a bone crunching Heitinga tackle on stevie g!
why is everyone being so negative? they are playing just as bad.
get behind the fuckin team! especially sunday
I think we will nick it, I honestly do. I think we will want it more.
I hope we will want it more. I do think a loss against us might mean the end of Rafa. So both teams will want it this Sunday. I am saying us because I am a blue 2-0. But my head says probably 1-1 with us hanging on for much of the 2nd half with 10 men.
id love a good atmosphere but sadly wont happen
2-0 RS
If we can cut out that schoolboy defending from last night and play with some pride and stop feeling sorry for ourselves then there's always the chance of a favourable result for us.But based on this season so far,I won't be holding my breath...We'll probably lose 2 or 3 nil.I hope the boys prove me wrong though :dribble:

True. But this derby is the most important for a long time. I think there's a good chance that whoever gets the first goal will go on to make it a farce, as both teams are so low on confidence that I doubt either of them could muster up a comeback (especially us).
things can only get better i would take a draw now. but fellaini and bily back i will go 2-1 to the everton

They can still pass the ball.
4-1 to Liverpool. Aquilani starts and ruins us.
I just can't see us getting anything form this. As poor as they are at the moment, we are fully worse. 2-0 to them.
I'm hoping for a win. Leave it at that...
Whatever the scoreline, I'd like to see us at least try to go for a win. Play with real fire in the belly.
Saha and Rodwell are doubts now, we might as well give them the points now

Rodwell we can live without. Saha is always a doubt.

Are we just terribly unlucky or are we not closing down enough on players outside of the box.
Knew that was going in as soon as it hit Yobo. Just our luck at the moment.
We've started brightly, so we're still in it.

Good idea :)
We've been dominant, great to see what a full strength midfield can do.
That was a tough chance for Jo, as it was falling away from him.
Ultimately the scoreline will be all that matters, but this is the best I've seen us play in a long time. We need to turn this possession into a goal though (obviously).
Ar tater? New Mr Potato Head for Christmas?
Great save Tim!
Howard kept us in it then.
I don't think I've been so proud of us this season, despite going in to half time losing. Everyone has tried and we have dominated, so it's only typical that we find ourselves 1-0 down...
Well I thought we were excellent first half, there's no way we deserved to be behind.
Fellaini has been dominant in midfield, Pienaar seems at his best and looks so dangerous, and Jo just needs a bit of good fortune to help him on his way.
It's absolutely vital that we keep that tempo up in the 2nd half - if we do that then we surely have to get something out of this today.
Fellaini is shit...
We're absolutely all over these. If we don't get something out of this game then it's a robbery. For me, that first offside goal wasn't offside. Someone scored a goal yesterday who was in the exact same position as Jo and was onside, so God knows how Jo was offside for that one.
Other than that, we've been great. Apart from Insua's header, which Howard made a fantastis save for, we've battered them. Defence is solid, midfield is brilliant (especially Fellaini, Pienaar and Billy) and Jo is having his best game for us this season. We've got to ride out the inevitable pressure from them early in this second half and then just go for it. More of the same please, lads!
Definitely agree with you Risky, especially about Fellaini and Pienaar, both very neat and tidy today and Bilya's been good as well. What a difference being able to play down both the right and left side makes!

Jo really does need to watch the line a bit better. Its typical that his best take and shot of the season is offside though...
Unlucky with the goal.
We should still be able to get something from this game.

I am thrilled to be reminded that Everton can play football!
Its so good to see Billy out wide, Cahill in his best position and espcially to see Pienaar back.
Infact i think we have played really well the first half.
Okay, its 0-1, but it took a significant deflection and (especially to us) shit happens.
We've passed the ball well and dominated overall possesion, and a big chunk of that into the final third. We've made a few chances, and if Billy and Jo were concentrating more we'd be going in level at half time. If we can keep the pressure on them in the second half I can definatey see and equiliser, maybe our second come back from one goal down sine WW2.
Good performance. Liverpool on the back foot for most of the first half.
We deserve something from this, if we can keep it going. Liverpool have had their luck...now we need ours!!
Im devastated we are playing really well but we are behind :(
Yep, we are superb so far, how the hell we are losing I don't know. Bily took a while to get going but we look great everywhere right now. Please continue this second half!
In my opinion a fantastic half which we have dominated but the only problem is the score line! We have dominated this half, played some brilliant football and created a load of chances which we should have scored from! We need to FINISH our chances, we could be about 3-1 up by now if we had. Fellaini and Heitinga are playing really good, especially Fellaini. His passing and tackling have all been good, he is always in Liverpools faces and it is usually him or Heitinga winning the ball in midfield then playing it to the foward or wingers and this is the type of performance he should be giving week in week out! My only problems our is the full backs aren't linking up well enough. You can see Pienaar is frustrated at times because Hibbert hasn't been supporting him at times. Same with Baines and Bilyaletdinov, I would leave it how it is for now but if it continues then I would swap Pienaar and Bilyaletdinov so he can have that link up with Baines and maybe Bilyaletdinov can put some better balls in because he would be cutting inside.
The defence need to keep concentration now too because if Liverpool score one more this game could be over and they are getting the odd chance. Jo is actually playing quite well although he needs to stay onside and Cahill needs to support him more. At the minute I wouldn't change anything just yet, give it 5 minutes or so and see how we do. If we keep this up, play like we just did but finish our chances and this game is ours!
Jo was offside,
Fellaini has played very well first half ,
And I think special praise must go to the ref for not geeting his cards out at all in the first half.
(and I thinking of starting a new religion based on the worship of Heitinga, does Heitingism sound good? I am a heitingist? It may need soem work, and maybe a crucifiction.....)
Oh and you can't really blame Yobo for the goal, maybe he could have connected with the ball better but a defenders job is to keep the ball away and he tried to do that!
Quote from: GumpinioI am thrilled to be reminded that Everton can play football!

It's the same old story though, when we actually play the ball on the deck, we canlook a dangerous side, we just need to be more ruthless and in Jo's case careful in front of goal. Everyone though seems to be working for each other and fighting for the ball. Just a shame we can't see this more often.

Count me in. I never thought we'd get another bald-headed rock in the centre of the field.
How the hell was that not our free kick!
Feels like the 80th minute already with the atmosphere and all this pressure.
It will be a travesty if we get nothing from this. Liverpool are shite, and we are playing really well.
Jo has played well today but he isn't strong enough yet to play up on his own.
Hibbert is looking more and more like a liability, and can't link up with Pienaar. I think bringing Neill on would be a good idea at this stage.
Fucking Hell!!! how did that not go in :bang:
I would bring Yak on now.
Unbelievable
that's it then, ridiculous scoreline, we really have no luck.
We've been robbed blind here. Poor defending but there's no chance Liverpool should be 2-0 up.

Exactly. I'm taking a break from football until after christmas if I can help it. This is fucking me up. Getting so invested in Everton, seeing the players give it their all and dominate and yet walk away 2-0 losers. And the news will probably make it out like Liverpool were a better class and rode the storm with courage, when really they were as lucky as we were unlucky.

just been interviewed and the 1st question was did liverpool deserve to win that 2-0
"errrrrrrrmmmmmm i think maybe we just shaded it"
i turned the telly off then before i put my foot through it.
the best thing about today is the fact liverpool will not even make the europa league this season. woeful side without torres and when gerrard has an off day.
What happened to our usually solid defence? It's been months and months since we last kept a clean sheet, in fact it just seems inevitable at the moment that we will concede at least one goal per game.
I heard that Yobo had a falling out with Moyes a couple of months ago.

I least we had pride today! We would have mauled Hull playing like that! Yobo could well be dropped next game if Rodwell is fit.
Liverpools 2 goals were so lucky even with the mistake from yobo for the 2nd still super lucky
Played really well and on another day liverpool wouldnt of got those 2 goals
Cant fault the players they all gave it 110% and most of the players played really well
It was Aston Villa at home last season where we played like we did today but lost and then we went to spurs and won and
we were back and finished 5th, this season 5th will be too hard to get but defs on this form today we should make top 7
Spurs at home Chelski away is it possible to get 4 points?
U need to congratulate liverpool they won they took there chances sort of
on another day those 2 goals wouldnt of went in but they day wasnt today and Liverpool won
When ur in poor form things dont go ur way like today
but well done liverpool
At least we can take something positive away from that game unlike many of our diabolical performances this season .. They were very lucky and if I was there manager I'd be concerned about how much we outplayed virtually all over the park .. One big plus for me was Fellaini's showing today , they had no answer to him , a bit of consistency is all that's needed now

Couldn't agree more. We can take a lot more positives from this loss than our pervious home draws. And for once we may avoid the traditional "Fellaini is shit and its all his fault" thread
Its all very well saying Liverpool were lucky but why on earth did we fail to score and why did we fail to stop the Liverpool goals?
Flaming typical , opened up at 2pm today and one of the lads waiting to come in supports Liverpool.I told him I don't want to know the score , not looking at any websites etc.. as I recorded it.
Then at about 3.30pm he starts dancing around , and I got gobby , said thanks for letting me know that you are winning or have won !!
Anyway , I will probably still watch it tonight as it sounds from the comments on here that we have put a performance in and that we have just been unlucky.
Is this match the corner turned for the rest of the season ?
Quote from: toffee_scotIts all very well saying Liverpool were lucky but why on earth did we fail to score and why did we fail to stop the Liverpool goals?
Luck and the smallest things. Deflections and tiny lapses in concentration.
The result would have been different under any of thse circumstances: 1.) More luck: Cahill's header had gone in, yobo's deflection had gone ANYWHERE but in the back of the net. 2.) Reina was not concentrating. his saves kept them in it. 3.) We were concentrating all the time: For their second goal we switched off and had Fellaini put his shot ANYWHERE but directly at Reina.
Who did Sky give MOTM by the way?
Quote from: Bluenose 91Who did Sky give MOTM by the way?
I don't know but either Pienaar of Fellaini deserve it.
I can't believe we didn't win that, we outplayed them for most of the game, deserved a draw if not all 3 points, but again we get nothing, one due to a flukey deflection and the other a mistake. It should give us a massive confidence boost for AEK and Spurs, I can see us winning bth games if we perform like that.
Also 1st post.

Ok but we are in the Premier League which means you can't afford a momentary lapse in concentration especially against a team like Liverpool and despite dominating and creating chances, we were not good enough to score a legitimate goal.
