Re: Everton v Newcastle

I’ll be watching this one in a bar in Dublin, would love another win and to build some momentum towards the top half of the table as I think we’re gonna struggle hard during AFCON

Re: Today's Football 2025-26

Both of those Forest “goals” were [emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]]/[emoji6[emoji640][emoji637]][emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]]] so in a weird way I guess it’s fair to disallow one

James Garner

He’s our best sitting midfielder, even if he does have faults. He’s sadly probably also our best RB. He’s also very rarely injured and can do ninety minutes week in week out - very good buy for what he cost. All the issues people have with Garner are because they want him to be something that he isn...

It's the total of xG of the opponents in the matches that you've had so far - so calculated the same way as xG

Re: Today's Football 2025-26

I think this is the first Madrid game I've watched since they got Alonso, are they always so massively open at the back?

Did we ever get our option to buy fee confirmed?

I noticed the option is only thirty million when playing the new Football Manager and they’re usually pretty accurate - I had it in my head the news at the time said fifty million

Re: Iliman Ndiaye

We need to find a way to get him and Grealish playing closer to each other, they’re levels above everyone else in the side.

Either Grealish CAM to be closer to a wide Ndiaye or even Ndiaye as a ST given our other options seem poor and we have a shiny new RW on the bench

Re: Thierno Barry

Sure but pacey wingers wouldn't mean either would suddenly have adequate hold up play. A lack of pace is an issue too, but it doesn't excuse either's lack of skill in that department. Hold up play is a lot easier when you’re under less pressure is my point. The pass quality and opposition defence p...

Re: Thierno Barry

I feel like having two strikers who are incapable of basic hold up play is gaslighting us in to thinking playing direct balls is some archaic unworkable style of football. You look at Palace and they're the most direct team in the league by a mile, the number of passes they take per chance creation...

Re: James Garner

Gana needs dropping before Garner, at this point he’s basically a pressing CAM and we can’t afford to just have one midfielder in there

Re: Michael Keane

Think mykolenko is an even bigger problem on the left myself. He’s terrible, and with Grealish hugging the touchline it means he’s coming infield with the ball and it’s horrible to watch. Don’t even think he’s good at defending anymore. Would much rather see Brathwaite in getting the ball in that p...

Re: Thierno Barry

If we want the striker to be the one running beyond the line then we've got to actually make passes into that space or he's going to fail. If we want the striker to be the hold up player then we need other players to run beyond him or the opposition backline will just squeeze up against him and he'l...

Re: James Garner

Gana is by far the bigger issue for me - and I suspect it's on purpose from Moyes. We've not yet found a way to consistently create chances when in possession so the only time we threaten is when we turnover possession high up the pitch on a press so Gana is being told to press high as much as possi...

Re: Thierno Barry

I'll repost my comment from the Moyes thread as I think it's relevent to the discussion on Barry: If you watch back the game yesterday it wasn't that Mateta was magically holding the ball up, it's that he wasn't under as much pressure from our CBs as they couldn't follow him as we were wary of the t...
