Re: Thierno Barry

Sure but pacey wingers wouldn't mean either would suddenly have adequate hold up play. A lack of pace is an issue too, but it doesn't excuse either's lack of skill in that department. Hold up play is a lot easier when you’re under less pressure is my point. The pass quality and opposition defence p...

Re: Thierno Barry

I feel like having two strikers who are incapable of basic hold up play is gaslighting us in to thinking playing direct balls is some archaic unworkable style of football. You look at Palace and they're the most direct team in the league by a mile, the number of passes they take per chance creation...

Re: James Garner

Gana needs dropping before Garner, at this point he’s basically a pressing CAM and we can’t afford to just have one midfielder in there

Re: Michael Keane

Think mykolenko is an even bigger problem on the left myself. He’s terrible, and with Grealish hugging the touchline it means he’s coming infield with the ball and it’s horrible to watch. Don’t even think he’s good at defending anymore. Would much rather see Brathwaite in getting the ball in that p...

Re: Thierno Barry

If we want the striker to be the one running beyond the line then we've got to actually make passes into that space or he's going to fail. If we want the striker to be the hold up player then we need other players to run beyond him or the opposition backline will just squeeze up against him and he'l...

Re: James Garner

Gana is by far the bigger issue for me - and I suspect it's on purpose from Moyes. We've not yet found a way to consistently create chances when in possession so the only time we threaten is when we turnover possession high up the pitch on a press so Gana is being told to press high as much as possi...

Re: Thierno Barry

I'll repost my comment from the Moyes thread as I think it's relevent to the discussion on Barry: If you watch back the game yesterday it wasn't that Mateta was magically holding the ball up, it's that he wasn't under as much pressure from our CBs as they couldn't follow him as we were wary of the t...

Re: David Moyes

Difference is Palace have a load of pace to make it work and a striker who can hold it up We don’t have any of that If you watch back the game yesterday it wasn't that Mateta was magically holding the ball up, it's that he wasn't under as much pressure from our CBs as they couldn't follow him as we...

Re: Tyler Dibling

He's played like a tiny amount minutes. Impossible to say anything other than it'll be interesting to see what he can do when he gets a few full games. Agree, all you can see for now is that he’s physically and technically capable of playing at this level - will take a while for the mental side of ...

Re: Jordan Pickford

To be fair the argument needs to go both ways, Southall wouldn’t be catching shots today like he did in his day because the actual ball has changed so much.

It’s way lighter and moves in the air more, that’s why no keepers catch it not just Pickford

Re: Manager Merry-Go-Round

Reports are Ten Hag didn’t even get along with the staff he brought with him to the club. I don’t see how you function on a basic level if you can’t work with the people you handpicked. I think it’s a massive PR offensive from the club to make him look as bad as possible, they’ve gutted the squad a...

Re: Jordan Pickford

Different generations. Can't compare. Nev was great but so is Pickford. Dixie Dean was a great goal scorer in his time but probably wouldn't get the same goals now. Can’t compare directly to each other but you can compare within their generations to their peers. Southall was in the discussion for b...

Re: Jack Grealish

Look at that little Grealish/KDH/Garner triangle - can see a lot of our threat coming there this season. It also means that teams bunch over there and leave Ndiaye [emoji637]vs[emoji637] where he’s most dangerous as a solo runner [attachment=[emoji[emoji6[emoji640][emoji638]][emoji640][emoji6[emoji6...
