Good to hear Shogs. We'll need numbers. You're not a 6'4" mobile Target man by any chance?

German international Kleindeinst from Monchengladbach has been mentioned, not sure we'll be in with a chance to beat others to him.

He's a 29 year old DCL-alike except he's scoring and assisting for fun.

Take away 6 inches, negative pace and no physicality. Might challenge Garner for a place!

Not interested in any 29 year olds unless they’re dirt cheap.

The squad is old as fuck and needs proper refreshing.

Think we need some instant quality for now, and some potential for later. We need a blend of ages, and luckily we have the space to shape our how we want, if we've the budget.

Of our in-contact players, Tarkowski(32) and Pickford(31) are oldest, our next oldest is Beto at 27, then Myko, McNeil and Ndiaye at 25.

We have to markedly improve next season, no one will be happy stagnating, we need an instant sugar hit now, almost as much as the longer term vision.

Question - when the ladies move to Goodison (which seems likely based on back channel rumors), do you think we will have the confidence to sell GP to ourselves to help with our PSR? Everyone else is using loopholes which we should as well.

Good debate between John and Piv on toffee TV I thought.

Piv saying good progress would be establish as a European challenging side in 3 summer windows.

John saying a bunch of hyperbolic aphorisms and refusing to listen.

Think you could do that in one window tbh.

You can finish 11th and still challenge for europe these days and that should be what we’re looking for next season.

Europe within the next three seasons, maybe sooner.

Are we still 4th favorites for relegation next season as things stand?

It's hard to say where we should be aiming until the summer transfer business is done, and we can weigh up how much progress we've made (or not).

I don't think top 10 should be out of the question at all next season, if we have a good window.

I'm afraid the market doesn't think the squad is quite as terrible as you do:

Burnley. 2/5.
Leeds. 10/11.
Wolverhampton. 11/4.
Brentford. 4/1.
Fulham. 5/1.
Crystal Palace. 5/1.
West Ham. 7/1.
Everton. 7/1

There'll be another team (playoff winner) in between Leeds and Wolves as well.

To caveat he is explicit about, not just having a season where you get 59 points, but building a squad that is then in the running year on year of being in and around the top 8.

I think 3 summers is a good plan, obviously we might kinda over perform one year and get 8th or under perform and be back at 12th/13th one year, but at the end of 3 summer windows be like, this project is now ready to move to - get top 4 and win something.

If we get the recruitment right I don’t see why we shouldn’t put ourselves amongst the clubs like Fulham, Brentford, palace, Brighton as a midtable team that can put a challenge for europe if things go well.

Time to forget the last few years. Put some pressure and expectations on the people working in the club to actually achieve something and take us forward.

Will 5th get you CL again next year? Or back to 4th.

I know it was 5th because of the coefficient of English clubs but I don't know if it rolls over?

Yeah, that’s exactly what we should be aiming for.

If we have a season like palace have this season, it wouldn’t be great, but the fans can see their building towards something so it would be fine.
