The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
I’d love Richy back tbh but forcing myself to look at the bigger picture, it’s got to be some sort of deal that makes financial sense, especially given his recent injury record. I imagine he’d jump at the chance, so maybe we hold the cards for a deal in our favour for once

Re: The Rebuild
I'd be mortified if we went back in for him.
Move on Everton. Stop being linked with former players, and run yourselves like a modern club, for the love of God.

Re: The Rebuild
The problem is richarlison would be our highest paid player and with no obligation to buy they'd surely be a decent loan fee. It should be a no if we are making sensible decisions now

It just feels like we’re forever destined to be run like we’re stuck in the 80’s.
We missed the boat at the dawn of the premier league and we’ve been preserved in amber ever since.

Re: The Rebuild
Surely since January the scouting team and the people in charge of recruitment have been identifying players that we could realistically get and would fit into a David Moyes team.
Re: The Rebuild
Nobody’s perfect but we’ve seen Moyes operate shrewdly in the market many times on a budget much tighter than what he’s likely to have with the money in the PL now. I trust him to do good work until he gives me a reason not to (prepared to rage if he goes in for someone like Soucek for any meaningful amount of money but that hasn’t been his MO).
I think the larger problem is that, outside of a few, moneyed, too-big-to-fail type clubs, the league has gotten considerably smarter. The overall standard of transfers is higher, clubs are hiring better quality coaches. It’s more work than ever before to make up ground which is a major factor in the struggle of the newly promoted clubs the past two seasons.
So we have our work cut out for us. There’s upside potential but it relies on us doing good things and some other clubs that have been doing well making a mistake or two or maybe just losing someone irreplaceable.

Re: The Rebuild
Would have loved him in charge in our fallow years but don't want him dithering over £40 when we need to spend £100m+ to even keep pace
Re: The Rebuild
The game's moved on from Moyes watching a £2m player 15 times before we sign them. I still feel it's a step back giving him control of everything rather than having a DOF working with the manager. Especially if we only give him his current deal or worse still, less than that and then we've a new manager coming in with little or no structure in place above him.

Re: The Rebuild
Getting rid of the DoF role was definitely a poor choice and terrible for future transitions.Gash wrote: ↑Fri May 09, 2025 2:56 pm The game's moved on from Moyes watching a £2m player 15 times before we sign them. I still think Moyes is a steady hand for recruitment.
