Couldn’t agree more.

It just feels like we’re forever destined to be run like we’re stuck in the 80’s.

We missed the boat at the dawn of the premier league and we’ve been preserved in amber ever since.

Surely since January the scouting team and the people in charge of recruitment have been identifying players that we could realistically get and would fit into a David Moyes team.

Nobody’s perfect but we’ve seen Moyes operate shrewdly in the market many times on a budget much tighter than what he’s likely to have with the money in the PL now. I trust him to do good work until he gives me a reason not to (prepared to rage if he goes in for someone like Soucek for any meaningful amount of money but that hasn’t been his MO).

I think the larger problem is that, outside of a few, moneyed, too-big-to-fail type clubs, the league has gotten considerably smarter. The overall standard of transfers is higher, clubs are hiring better quality coaches. It’s more work than ever before to make up ground which is a major factor in the struggle of the newly promoted clubs the past two seasons.

So we have our work cut out for us. There’s upside potential but it relies on us doing good things and some other clubs that have been doing well making a mistake or two or maybe just losing someone irreplaceable.

Especially if we only give him his current deal or worse still, less than that and then we've a new manager coming in with little or no structure in place above him.

Especially if we only give him his current deal or worse still, less than that and then we've a new manager coming in with little or no structure in place above him.

Getting rid of the DoF role was definitely a poor choice and terrible for future transitions.

I still think Moyes is a steady hand for recruitment.
