Actually think it makes relative sense to just keep hold of him as a 4th CB. We've got so much else to do this summer. He won't play very often.

It would probably suit all parties, he doesn't need to move his family and we don't need to find a fourth centre back and means assuming we keep Branthwaite that the CB situation is already sorted, assuming Burnley don't come in for him.

He's made 13 appearances in the league this season, so don't really buy the 4th CB choice and he'll never play stuff. With our RB options then not inconceivable he becomes more like 3rd choice CB. I'm going to hold off on the meltdown until Monday though.

I'd be happy with that as long as he's also offered less than he's on, pretty sure he's earning 80k a week and if he's 4th choice, we shouldn't be paying him that.

I get we need to move on from him, but we need to move on from half the squad who's contract isn't ending, as well as the 12 who's are.

We're probably going to keep a few people who in an ideal world, we'd much rather replace.

I dont understand how it suits us though? If it gets to the point he has to play, then the whole team falls apart. Why have a player who affects the team so negatively due to his frailties? There is no positive for him staying.

Yeah, you're not going to get anyone of any great quality or better than Keane to come and sit on the bench most weeks, if he's happy to do that on lower wages then the club can concentrate on other areas then it's not that bad.

I just want rid of the fear he brings.

He seems like a really nice guy, and it's not fair on him to keep him and subject him to the inevitable abuse he'll get when his head falls off after a mistake again.

He did fine when he played against Fulham. He's generally ok when he gets a run of games, or if he knows he's playing from the start and he's able to prepare to play in training.

I think he's more a bag of nerves when he comes off the bench in the middle of a game, because the nervousness transmits around the ground.

I never get that "the whole team falls apart" when he plays narrative, you only need to look when he scores how happy all the players are for him and how popular he is in the squad, I'd question the the rest of the squad rather than him if that was the case. You're not going to get anyone of great quality to be fourth choice, either a young, untested player or a Ben Mee. He's an experienced PL centre back who would be fine for cover and save us having to find and buy someone else. It might not be ideal but that's the position we're in now.

I dont think he isnt very liked, and i dont think he isnt popular, he obviously is and he seems really lovely lad.

But 100% the team step back and there is a lack of confidence in the defence when he is playing.

It's not like he'd play much, injuries aside or a tactical sub towards the end of a game he won't get on the pitch and if it needs our 4th choice to come on it's either him or some other player that's only good enough to be fourth choice. Anyway, with the money saved our dynamic new midfield will cover in any issues we'll have when he comes on. :)
