Re: The Rebuild
I think he loved the adoration at Villa as being the very big fish, didn’t get that so much at City, could flourish again with a team like us, I’m deffo up for a loan.
Re: The Rebuild
Yeah, Grealish hasn't got the drive anymore, he's made his money. Not the first to go to City and lose his mojo and won't be the last but I think he'll be quite content with life.
Re: The Rebuild
When that happened I knew he'd be binned off by Pep pretty sharpish, it's just not the attitude Pep demands.
I think that's why he's barely played but I also think there's still plenty there, he's a quality player just not dedicated enough to be given much opportunity after that.
I wouldn't sign him permanently though, players who don't look after themselves have a very steep drop off. I don't think that's happened yet, so for a season on loan he'd be transformative, especially if we also got a deeper midfielder who could pass too.
Re: The Rebuild
Depends on whether he’s willing to come here and put a shift in off the ball.
Would absolutely buck up our ideas with the ball in possession and in transition but we can’t sacrifice the team ethic that carried us through the second half of the season even when the quality was lacking.
That’s what makes our summer difficult. It’s easy to improve on the attacking and creative output of players like Doucoure and Harrison but much harder to do while retaining even 80-90% of what they give you off the ball.

Re: The Rebuild
The one problem is that we only have two domestic loan spots, so we have to be super picky and make them work
Foreign ones are less important as we can have as many as we like, negating the need for a successful outcome
That said, if he’s an option, you have to take it

Re: The Rebuild
I wouldn't cover more than 25-30% of that salary. If that gets it done, though? Probably worth a shout. He's not as clearly fat/not-arsed like Kalvin Phillips, though still plenty of risk.

Re: The Rebuild
We literally had this very same conversation about Phillips last summer can he find his mojo again not worth the risk with the wages factored in we need to move away from this type of signings

Re: The Rebuild
Phillips was never that good, a much bigger failure at city and a disastrous loan move further down the road having failed at West ham too.
Grealish would be a great signing. Probably way too expensive to be sensible though. A 10m loan (Phillips cost West ham 8m apparently) just isn't clever business for us

Re: The Rebuild
We need pace in the wide areas. Adding players like Grealish would be going back to the days of Koeman/Walsh. Not for me.
