Potter hardly used him at all for West Ham. He's lost that initial burst of pace because of the injuries and his confidence is low. It would be a big risk to take him on.
The problem is Brighton still seem to want good money for him. Was talk of ridiculous numbers before he went to West ham and they decided to give them no option

I'd have him on loan with an option at 30m. Think there's no chance they'd go for it. No point taking him on loan with no option or 1 at 50 or 60m. He'll end up at Leeds or Sunderland because they are more desperate and will take him with no guarantees

There is still a very good player in there somewhere. Agree that a loan with a realistic option would be sound. I'd be confident that we could get a lot more out of him than we did with Broja this season. In terms of injury, he is still as risky a proposition as Broja at this point.

Yeah, he’s better than Jackson.

The only issue though is Chelsea are a club that will just go and randomly sign some big name from Europe that could take his place.

At the moment he gets plenty of game time, plays in the champions league and challenges for trophies every season.

We did our best but we were never competing with Chelsea unfortunately.

Be interesting what we do now. If we can have Beto for a full season and DCL can be available for around 70% of games we’re in decent shape upfront.

Delap was just a great opportunity for us. Not sure that opportunity is anywhere else as you can’t guarantee a striker from europe performs and there’s nobody else in England who you’d say would represent good value.

There's other strikers, we still need one. Dom needs to move on and looks like Moyes doesnt fancy Chermiti, so a young target man with potential has to be the aim.

What about Omari Hutchison for RM?

Would be not much left of the Ipswich squad and ramparts both, if he too were to leave.

Dilapidated.

In talks with Etikite at the moment with Emegha likely joining next year.

Early summer rumour about us being interested in Delap, by the ever reliable Caught Offside. Maybe just a lazy link from last season, but I could see Chelsea wanting to sell...I was quite keen on him as an option last summer but yeesh his been terrible for Chelsea.

Chelsea is a often not a good move for young players who need game time IMO. I expect him to leave in the summer for someone and probably go on to have a decent at worst Premier League career. I firmly believe moving to Chelsea is a the football equivalent of selling your soul to the devil, which is ironic, seeing as Chelsea are one of the most soulless clubs of them all.

Lot of truth in that. Delap could flourish at a club like ours, I hope there is something in this rumour
