Over time though I'd imagine the transformation of that area of the city will be booming in years to come.
Just don’t think it will ever capture what county road did.

We took over that entire place yesterday and always do when we get a big win.

Even just going down the off license for a few cans can’t be done at the new ground because there’s nowhere to get your cans, and nowhere to really mill round.

Really hit me yesterday that the experience at the new ground is going to be completely different and I think we’ll lose something with it.

I'm hoping that changes over time though. There's so much dead space around that area, there's got to be tons of opportunity to develop something that might recreate that feeling, even if it's never going to be quite the same. We just have to hope it's not all aimed at the tourist crowd.

I mean, the size of that plaza is much bigger than it looks you know. It's made to hold 25,000 people (the plan is to be able to host outdoor concerts between the stadium and the dock wall).

That's not to mention the imminent plans for Nelson & Salisbury docks and a touch further afield.

In the picture i have attached, the stuff circled in blue will happen relatively soon (5 to 10 years) the stuff in orange from 5 to 15 years and the stuff in purple deep into the following decade.
The sheer scale and scope of the plans for this area is beyond anything the city has seen in a long time. Greater than LiverpoolOne possibly.

There's a lot of nostalgia and sad thoughts knocking around at the moment. Goodison wasn't unique. (Villa park is amongst one of a few places that has everything Goodison does), Z-cars is not more special than the funeral dirge across the park. Our fans are no more present and available to the club that Newcastle's.

This is the third ground we have created in the city. We will make it work.

I get what you’re saying and look to the future etc but let’s not be too dismissive.

We’re happy about the new puppy, but we’re still grieving for the grand old Lady we’ve had to say goodbye to. She will never be replaced.

Not really. These are all valid concerns that have been there for a while for a lot of people.

There is hardly anything there.

We’re going from a place that has pubs, shops, restaurants aplenty to a place with next to nothing.

We’ve been able to build atmospheres and celebrate wins together on country road, and it’s made for some amazing nights.

Will we have that here when there’s very few pubs to dive into, no shops and everyone using the same exit out of the ground?

All the possible regeneration is great but it’s just gentrification and will take a long time for us to see the benefits.

I doubt we’ll see the scenes we’ve seen over the last couple of years at Bramley moore as a lot of people will not want to be round there after the game and will just dive into town.

We should build rows and rows of terraced houses with a pub on each corner.

I feel pretty much exactly this, and "pub" is a word doing a lot of heavy lifting here. If the area does develop in the way it's suggested it will, swanky bars or whatever are not adequately replacing pubs.

Might just be an old misery but I will be allowing enough (might be a colossal amount looking at transport) time to get in the ground when I go and getting straight off after the game.

I get it's progress and I understand it but my feelings haven't changed one iota from the first release of the plans to the ground being built. It's a massive improvement in many many ways and makes enormous business and financial sense.

It just isn't for me. My first visit might alter my view but I highly doubt it.
In a world full of adversity, we must still dare to dream.

I’d have only gotten one if it was an old wooden seat, was it just the Bullens with them?
Couldn’t believe he was removing the number off the plastic one.

In case you haven't seen, old seats are now being sold to non season ticket holders. You can choose between plastic or wooden seats.
