The Rebuild
Re: The Rebuild
And looks like the Kyle Walker news was drummed up by his own agent. Fantastic stuff

Re: The Rebuild
I remember Moyes first time there was never any song and dance about signing players the majority just came out of the blue. The more noise you make about a player the likes of West Ham Newcastle and Spurs also seem to the linked. Moyes has always played his cards close to his chest.
Re: The Rebuild
There's something weirdly exciting about a sensible approach to recruitment, especially with a manager over seeing things who has a track record of buying talent on the cheap and developing them.
So far we've signed Alcaraz for dirt cheap and by all accounts a very solid right back for free. You'd imagine that leaves us a decent wedge to spend on the attacking areas which hopefully means we bring in some real game changers.
Everything feels more professional right now, more stable and it doesn't take much imo to move us in to that top half. We have a really solid defence so now it's about adding to the forward areas to ensure we're not just difficult to beat but also asking questions of the opposition and winning more games.
Given the right signings I could honestly see us around 9th next season.

Re: The Rebuild
I mean, we still need at least five more players so let’s see where we are at the end of the window.
The deals we’ve done are ones that can get done pretty quickly.
Let’s see what happens when money in involved and we’re going after players who have other clubs sniffing around.

Re: The Rebuild
Yeah, we need Gana to stay, a better cm partner for him than Garner, an explosive rw, a striker, a good young left-sided cb to bed in before Branthwaite goes at some point, and an improvement on Mykolenko
Re: The Rebuild
Also tete isn't done, we've got Alcaraz on a two year deal which tbh feels a bit of a begrudgingly accepted move from Moyes.
We are much weaker than last year as it stands. Let's not set the fireworks off yet.

Re: The Rebuild
Its also about 4 years before the season starts, so let's allow ourselves to smile and celebrate some positive stuff?

Re: The Rebuild
Reality is we’re signing a jobbing right back who’s a stop gap so we can spend money elsewhere.
Be positive for sure, but let’s not lose sight of how much work needs to be done.
If we don’t sign someone within the next two weeks the mood will change.
We need to have targets lined up and be aggressive towards getting them in asap.
The real work has yet to begin.

Re: The Rebuild
I think the structural changes are the most positive part so far. Seems like we have put a good team together for the future.
Most other things are either not confirmed (Tete, Gana) or things we already had a sense might be completed (Alcaraz).
Gana still yet to sign a contract is a worry for me. Having to replace him this summer alongside the other work we need to do would be a massive ask.

Re: The Rebuild
Don't think we were ever going to spend any actual money til July, so that a bad year falls off our 3 year PSR calculations. So Alcaraz and any free transfers were always going to be the focus upto now.
I reckon July will be a bit mad.

The Rebuild
I’m surprised there’s not more noise around Zinchenko, still only twenty eight, available for about twenty million as his contract his running down and would probably be both our best CM and best LB
