Was that 30k number ever verified ? I think it was correct, at least close to it.
I think the "spike" in the waiting list was probably down to the anticipation of the new ground being built and people wanting a better chance of guaranteeing a seat there as you're right, we haven't been good to have gotten that much over the past few seasons.
Still feel 52 is slightly low. We're not like City.
Look at the turn out on the last day of the season. There's enough clout there to have gotten a few more seats in, in my opinion anyway.

We did the Goodison tour and the guying doing the tour said the ST waiting list was 30k and membership was 50k. I don't know how often the waiting list is updated but there will be a lot of natural wastage in that though, people who's circumstances have changed, moved away, passed away, can no longer afford it, or just kept their name in there but wouldn't take it up if the offer came.
That’s probably right then about tge 30k but bizarre that when we were finishing top half and playing in Europe there was no waiting list, then we go to pieces and 30k plus want an ST, might be in anticipation of BMD as Cozzie says and as you say some will have, died, moved away, lost their job etc. and some speculating that they could get an ST and bung it on Stub Hub every week at £100 plus, now that’s no longer possible WL might come down.

I think it's the Premier League as a brand as much as anything else, even in the decent years under Moyes we were never selling out and averaging 36-37k at games. It's only the last 7-8 years that attendances have got higher and higher and we started selling out, maybe we're just gluttons for punishment and the worse we get the more we come together and support the club.
I think @Cozzie has it right - i got my season tickets a bit earlier than my eldest was ready due to the imminent ground move. I knew it would be impossible to get to the last game/first game (or much of the season around them) with out it. I got it the year before a waiting list was introduced.
Prior to that, i have spent my time since the mid-90s getting a season ticket every other year.

COVID effect as well? See it with concerts too where despite the rise on prices they still seem to be increasing in popularity.
Feels like everyone is getting their excuses in order for when the season starts as they all know the trains aren’t capable of producing the service needed.
The bit I don't understand about this discussion is that it's not like Goodison or Anfield was exactly easy to access by public transport and they've been there for 100+ years, so why do we expect to have a train from town running every 10 minutes for the new stadium?

Because there's lots of directions away from the old grounds - pubs also absorb huge amounts of the crowd.
There'll be 50 thousand people with very limited amenities all looking to go in one of 2 directions - both of which Sandhills is the best option for (buses during high-traffic situations around there are laughable)

There's no football car park to service the new ground, so the expectation is more people will have to use public transport.

Yeah, appreciate the club are keeping the bar open for an hour after the match to try and alleviate the traffic out the stadium but even then I can't see people paying staying behind to pay £9 or whatever it'll be for a pint

Don’t know where you’re getting this from?
Goodison is really easy to access via public transport, as is anfield, due to the fact they both have regular bus services that cover all the city.
