The Seamus Coleman factor
Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
Yeah, that's a farce.
"Why are you giving him a contract?" "He loves Everton" "Oh sound then"
It's like it's Bill and 2007 all over again.
Edit: My last few posts have been attacking the Irish, I would like to state this is a coincidence and I am absolutely not a tory. Thank you.

Can he not do that as a coach like?Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 1:36 pm He's mostly there to instil an understanding of the club and culture to the 9/10 new players we need to sign.
Makes sense to me.
Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
Yeah, it's fine to be fair, you need someone around who gets the club especially during a period of huge change.

Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
I think basically he will be a quasi-coach role, where he's an intermediary between the manager and the players, and if he's ever needed to play 2/3 games a season because of an injury crisis he's always there.
Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
He'll probably have a dual role anyway, player coach type thing and I would think his wages will be closer to a coaches than an average premier league player.
Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
He wont be on loads, it's 12 months it's fine, he's fine, we have enough work to do as it is.

Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
It really depends what we are paying him. It's good to have him around but that only has so much value
Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
I just cannot find it in my heart to begrudge this.
I would also however like an actual RB if poss

Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
Always exceptions to the rule.
Not bothered at all by this.
But yeah, sign a decent RB (hopefully Tete, at least for now)

Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
Great to have Seamus for another year hopefully this is the year he lifts a cup for us
Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
Would that be the Phil Neville role, manager's grass? I couldn't imagine Seamus Coleman being a grass.Bluedylan1 wrote: ↑Fri Jun 27, 2025 1:40 pm I think basically he will be a quasi-coach role, where he's an intermediary between the manager and the players, and if he's ever needed to play 2/3 games a season because of an injury crisis he's always there.

Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
Someone posted on Twitter he bumped into him at the Jota memorial on Friday night, 11:30, laying flowers and having a read of the tributes.
When asked why he was there so late he said he wanted to pay his respects without the fuss of the cameras, etc.

Re: The Seamus Coleman factor
I seen this myself, and thought it was nice of the guy to then make a fuss of it on social media. Something Coleman didn't want.Birko Blue wrote: ↑Mon Jul 07, 2025 10:13 am Someone posted on Twitter he bumped into him at the Jota memorial on Friday night, 11:30, laying flowers and having a read of the tributes.
