The Doc wrote: Sat Jul 19, 2025 11:18 am Just read this, doesn't change my opinion. It feels like the club are trying to do things properly.

We've signed a decent backup keeper, and two players with good profiles in Barry and Alcaraz.

We might see us sign some of our second third and fourth choice players for the other position, but that's the position we're in.

We might have to settle for a mediocre season while we build slowly, that's the legacy of the Moshiri era.
Agree with a lot of what you say but think you’re giving the club way too much credit saying they’re doing things properly.

I think they’ve been caught short and are now tempering expectations because they’ve realised it’s not going to be a great summer.

We’ll see how it turns out but I haven’t had good vibes from the off about this recruitment structure and the fact moyes is at the top of it gives me worries.

I get it, and there's the possibility that we've overestimated our pulling power and gone for unrealistic targets, definitely. How much do players really care about playing at a brand new stadium every other week?

Not as much as we like to think, definitely.

Still think we will actually pull off a really big signing or two, but it’s the squad as a whole I’m worried about.

I'd imagine players don't care at all. They want to win games and get paid or have the best chance to get a further move to where they'll get paid.

I think our problem is we are sometimes willing to wait around too long. If Douglas Luis wants to wait for better offers that's fair enough but if that's gonna hold us up too much we can't wait around with him.

The specifics of who we get where from and for how much are sort of not my business, all I know is we needed to get younger, deeper and better, which is a lot of business to do.

We didn't need to knock every signing out the park, like ultimately what is our aim? 10th as a dream? Okay sure.

But to be so inactive, to have such little done...it's a massive worry.

The link with the Rangers player is worrying. Poor for this league and he's been mentioned in the last three windows.

But we knew this, we knew all this, why does everyone want everything today when we can simply be patient and watch everyone else snap up targets in our own time? Typical modern football fans
Man oh man why aren’t we buying a forty million + winger who wants European football - it’s so easy we should obviously just buy this player who we can’t afford and who wouldn’t sign for us.

Whilst we’re at it we should really have got that Wirtz lad for our CAM, Kudus RW, Zubimedi for DM and Frimpong for RB.

Friedkins out!

All the warnings signs are there.
This is a worrying read, didn't realise Roma were seemingly behind in the market too. Not been a great start here.

If I'm not mistaken, I understand that Roma were also sailing pretty close to the wind with UEFA FFP rules, so are not in too dissimilar a position to us.

We dont truly know how inactive or active we've been. Productive? Definitely falling short there, as two signings isnt productive enough, but id imagine it's not for lack of trying.

I'm worried but I wasn't hopeful going in that we'd be able to have a transformational window. I see us stopping the rot and stabilising at best.
