Re: The Rebuild
I think some of the fans perceptions of our club do not match the of the rest of the football world.
We are not a very attractive club to go and play for at the moment.

Re: The Rebuild
I think it's just a continuation of what he's been saying in press conversations.
We hoped there would be more in by now/we don't have a lot of time/it's been harder to convince players that we anticipated.
All what we already knew.

Re: The Rebuild
Obviously the Facebook crowd will want Grealish and Haaland but think a lot of people saw this coming. Why were we going after Fofana when Liverpool are interested in him? Why are we wasting time on Luiz when he's clearly keeping his options open.Lazarou II wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 7:29 am I think some of the fans perceptions of our club do not match the of the rest of the football world.

Those behind the scenes have spent so much time chasing top targets that they've missed out on the next level down. 100% expecting Harrison, Coufal and probably Soucek now.

Re: The Rebuild
I really don't think it's as doom and gloom as all that.
If you listen to it (albeit it's very low), he's basically giving the people above him a reminder that we need to get cracking with some of these deals -

Re: The Rebuild
Why tell the world how desperate you are?
Id be adding 10million to asking prices if I were other clubs.

Re: The Rebuild
Just because Liverpool are linked with Fofanah doesn't mean we shouldn't go for him. If we didn't go for this type of player people on here would be kicking off about the lack of ambition instead.Shogun wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 7:33 am Obviously the Facebook crowd will want Grealish and Haaland but think a lot of people saw this coming. It might happen, it might not. If it does we probably flip him in 12-24 months for double so it's worth pursuing.

Completely agree, seems very strange to publicly admit it. We're going to be had over a barrel now, surely.Audrey Horne wrote:Why tell the world how desperate you are?

Re: The Rebuild
Well there's obviously been some encouragement from his camp or we wouldn't be pursuing him. It's probably a small chance but you can't have it both ways. We either have ambition and try sign this kind of player or we don't... Going to have people moaning either way.Audrey Horne wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 8:32 am There's literally zero chance he chooses us though? So why waste time?
Re: The Rebuild
Hackney is a weird one.
Obviously there is one side of it where, if it's Ipswich, then just swoop in and get the deal done.
But with all the stats adding up to him being a cracking player it's also puzzling that not a single premier league club (seemingly) is in for him. Is there an underlying issue there?
He seems to have what it takes to really kick on, similar to Wharton.
Hope we at least try.

Re: The Rebuild
Hackney seems like a no brainer.
But then again I was convinced that Brede Hangeland, Sean Davis, Vadis Odjidja-Ofoe, and Leroy Fer would be world beaters, so what do I know.

Re: The Rebuild
I've never seen him play but his defensive stats are really poor, I think someone posted FBref stuff here or I saw it elsewhere. Super high percentile for on the ball work but really low for anything defensive.Cozzie wrote: ↑Wed Jul 30, 2025 8:38 am Hackney is a weird one.

I reckon that's probably the issue for us given we essentially play a double pivot and need both players to be high on defensive actions.
Edit - just checked and actually decent enough for tackles and blocks so maybe better than I remembered
Re: The Rebuild
Moyes is probably still finding his way with the new owners. Its a bit of an odd situation as he is a new manager for them but he has a lot more leverage with the fans than a new manager normally would. So he is probably more comfortable with being upfront with fans, expressing his concerns and rocking the boat a bit.
