I'm away to Scotland until Tuesday. Doubt I'll even watch the game.Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 2:04 pm Bank holiday weekend, wouldn’t bother looking again until Tuesday
Re: The Rebuild
Beto was bad monday, but thats on moyes, set him up to fail. We have all seen beto cant play with his back to goal or win headers, yet we were trying exactly that all game.
What he is good at, is the opposite to what DM asked of the team on monday, so its on Davy

Good honest press conference, the level of players he wants, want European football, so we move down to the next level, and this is why it goes to the wire.
In Moyes we must trust.

This should have been obvious from the get go though really?Bluebridge wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 2:43 pm Good honest press conference, the level of players he wants, want European football, so we move down to the next level, and this is why it goes to the wire.

That could still mean two things though, either kids who need the experience or older players who presumably have more of a ceiling.
I don't really buy the European thing though entirely mind you, players will definitely move for money/playing time, but maybe it's a good thing we aren't offering silly wages.

Re: The Rebuild
If you’re in a relentlessly negative headspace then that’s how you’d phrase it - I suspect that the professionals are more phasing it as a “can you prove you can step up to that European level” and majority of players have egos so I can see that workingbrap[emoji638] wrote:

Re: The Rebuild
Mate he's literally said - we went for some top players and we didn't get them, so we're going to have to look a bit further down the ladder now and find some players who we think can do a job.StirlingBlue wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 2:54 pm If you’re in a relentlessly negative headspace then that’s how you’d phrase it - I suspect that the professionals are more phasing it as a “can you prove you can step up to that European level” and majority of players have egos so I can see that working

Re: The Rebuild
I hope we can pull some more good loans out of the bag. It's probably the best market for us right now too.
There will be a some good calibre of players who wants pre-World Cup playing time but maybe don't want to commit to a move.

Yes!
Worried Barry isn’t ready, so let’s get his understudy from Villarreal in to show what not ready really is!
Re: The Rebuild
If that's all Moyes wants how do you explain the bids for Conceicao, Kubo, Bakayoko, Fofanah, Dibbling etc?
Doesn't exactly scream Prem proven does it?
Fact is we're looking so far down our shortlist now it's invariably going to be players of known quantity that want to come to us, so it's not going to be particularly exciting.

I’m not being funny, but I reckon of all the guys on the committee, Moyes is the least likely to have been the one pushing for those hipster names.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 3:27 pm If that's all Moyes wants how do you explain the bids for Conceicao, Kubo, Bakayoko, Fofanah, Dibbling etc?

Because he’s not the one going after those players, obviously.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 3:27 pm If that's all Moyes wants how do you explain the bids for Conceicao, Kubo, Bakayoko, Fofanah, Dibbling etc?

Obvious at this point that something is going severely wrong within the recruitment team and it most likely is a difference of opinion on what players we need to bring in.
This happened at west ham with moyes.
Would love to go a summer without seeing the words “premier league proven” all the time.
It never works.
Re: The Rebuild
But we've tried for the non premier league proven so what's the alternative given they don't want to come to us?TheRam wrote: ↑Fri Aug 22, 2025 3:34 pm Because he’s not the one going after those players, obviously.

It's obviously not the way I wanted it to go either but I'm not sure why people are focusing on this, especially given we've not actually signed anyone of this description so it might not even be true.
