Re: Tyler Dibling
Like buying a car or tick and then claiming you've made a profit when you sell a 100k care for 5k when you only owe 4. Free use of a car and 1k profit. I'm gonna be rich
Re: Tyler Dibling
Doesn't have to be considered profit, just sustainable. You sell out of a contract period for a proportinately reasonable amount, compared to what you paid in the first place.
Re: Tyler Dibling
All sales are counted against the year thet happen.
All purchases are amortised.
So 100% of sales can register as a PSR profit as long as you don't sell them in the same summer you buy them (like Villa/Unsworth/Us back in the day)
As long as we sell players we have PSR headroom.
But people are being utterly blindsided by this accounting trick into thinking it's real.
Cashflow is king for a business. You spend more than you bring in over any period of time in real terms and alarm bells should be going off

Cash flow is king, and I’m not blindsided by the PSR profit trick. But it is part of how a club is run now.superpull wrote: ↑Sat Aug 23, 2025 8:56 pm All sales are counted against the year thet happen.

Player trading is very difficult to make money on, so cash flow and profit is partly determined by how you run the club off the pitch, commercially, and how successful you are on it, of course.
My point re THIS deal, is that it can form part of a mix that isn’t overall concerning. I don’t think anyone has suggested we can go out and buy everyone we want and it’s all cool because of a PSR trick.
Edit* also I was only talking about a “worst case scenario” PSR upside, if we do end up selling him in 3 years for 20 mill then it’s cos he’s failed. That isn’t what I hope for or expect, we “should” make actual money on him in player trading (minus wages)

You know like other clubs do it.
Our medicals take 3 days as it is, and we seem to edit our reveal vids for a further day or two.
Re: Tyler Dibling
Seriously who gives a fuck about amortisation and all that bollocks. We may be overpaying we may not, it's an exciting signing, that's it
