It wasn’t the atmosphere I was expecting after Sunday. I know it was only the cup, and Mansfield at that but no one was singing around me at all on upper West side and I was getting annoyed at the songs directed at our lack of noise being sung by Mansfield fans thru the whole game.

Always going to be quite quiet I think, a home tie against a minnow.

Would say the acoustics in the stadium make the away fans so loud tho - some away fans are going to make an absolute racket.

Yeah that's just the atmosphere of every premier league side's home match in the early rounds of a cup against lower league side. Especially considering there was nothing in the game to get anyone riled up.

Plus that wasn’t 100% regular crowd, tickets were easier to come by for people who can rarely get a Premier League match ticket and a lot who would have travelled far for the Brighton match were not going to come up two days later for this.
Still, bet it’s the only 2nd round match against league one opponents that will ever get 48,000 crowd.

I don't mind the South Stand divide, there's other parts of the ground are worse, there seems to lots of areas of concrete that look empty in the West and East Stands, I don't like the two big tunnels at the bottom of the East Stand or the big tunnel between the West and North stands. I said a couple of weeks ago about the disabled section at the bottom of each side of the South Stand, that stand should be packed and it just makes it look empty, same last night when they were showing replies of Alcaraz's goal from behind him, facing the stand, it looked like there was just a block of fans in the middle then two big stairs up either side, it didn't look great.

I still think the stadium's great and can't wait to go but it feels like there's a few things they could do to help the visual impact of it.

On the siren, I don't have a problem with it, where do you stop, you can't stop doing something like that for fear of offending a small amount of people. Chances are it gives people far more pleasure and a buzz than the odd person it might upset and as far as I'm aware no one has raised it as an issue with the club.

I actually think the South stand divide looks worse since they painted it, stands out even more now.

Also with regards the siren, I think it's great it's been pointed out, but also it needs to stay. If we want an easy transition in to a new home it's small things like that which help massively.

Hasn't achieved what it was meant to achieve imo and looks really crap. Less said about the blag divide the better. Agree with @Audrey Horne about the disabled sections as well, terrible idea to have them there.

There is as it stands no raucous lower gwladys style area in this ground and it's because of the mess of the lower South.

The upper South concourse - I've no idea what anyone's talking about, there's about one million places to get a bevy, hardly any queues at all, unbelievable views out that window - it's unreal.

The bogs situation isn't great, I missed Alcaraz* goal cause I was still queueing and had no idea it had even kicked off.

But ale and food you're sorted within seconds and there's lots of places to stand?
I don’t know what people are doing up there if they’re queuing for ages.

I’ve not had to wait more than a minute for a drink and that’s right in the middle of half time. The queues on the island opposite the window are always pretty empty.

The concourse is great and is a genuine option to have a drink after the match to let the crowds die down.

The lower south is a bit of a mess though. Just doesn’t give the vibe that the Gwladys did.

They had good intentions but you're both right, the balance is off now and the efforts to add standing and place the disabled sections there has definitely had an impact, both in how it looks and the atmosphere.

I've sat in both the lower and upper and it feels so different. I wonder how many people are actually standing in that section? I sat down there for the test event and all of 3 people stood all game, and the people behind them weren't happy about it as they wanted to sit.

And even if they had a warning siren there’s nowhere to shelter, tents don’t shelter.

Roma fans were brilliant. Only a handful of them but made themselves heard and for the full 90 non-stop too. Loved it.

Only issue is the toilets but other than that it’s great.
Yeah same, every game so far has felt massive because of the atmosphere up there.

Think we all probably need to remember, when pointing out things we don’t like, that the stadium will develop and change over time. The colours, the seating, the rail standing, the kiosks and the ticketing. It’s all part of a living breathing structure… it doesn’t need to be perfect today and likely never will be to everyone. It’s the start of our journey at BMD, not the destination.

The rails in the safe standing areas need painting blue, I was at Pride Park and hadn’t really noticed theirs as they’re painted black.

Agreed. I noticed Liverpools are red and it definitely helps blend them in.

Like I said above, updates such as colours will of course be an ongoing and forever morphing dynamic of the stadium.
