The season we won the most games was the season we were better than the season we won less games.

Doesn't mean we were more successful or memorable.

Ultimately though, the only thing that matters in the history books is the name that is etched on the trophy. Nobody remembers who finished 2nd or 3rd because nobody's arsed.

That was our best season. It was our best team, we played the best football and we got the most points.
Feels like 4th and qualifying for the champions league is better than 5th and not. Each to their own though

I don’t really care enough to argue about it tbh.

If we win more games with Garner at left back and Keane at centre back, will it be more or less pedantic on NSNO?

He really fucked it up from the kickoff.

Hoofing it into the channels for Beto on a slick surface when your strength is Grealish and Ndiaye basically gave them nothing to worry about for 45 minutes.

Barry helped us get those two on the ball more and we more or less controlled the second half.

It’s nice to hear that he’s first in, last out, trying to learn everything he can from analytics, etc. but at some point in his career, he has to make the leap from being reactive to proactive.

Slot changed up a team that took max points from its first four to help corral Grealish and got one over on us a bit too easily.

I feel Moyes will have one last chance to break that Anfield hoodoo next season. That'll be it for him.

Current oldest manager in the league, don't think he's around beyond next season.

Yeah its why I didnt want Moyes back tbh. I cba with it. Cowardice really. Stubborn inability to change.

He's been fantastic no doubt about that. But mid table this year, a solid season to build on then get a younger proactive manager in the summer who will go into these games with a proactive positive attitude.

Still alot to be very excited about with the team and I won't allow this to ruin things but we knew this would happen. Its a shame he hasn't changed in that respect.

No guarantee a change in the way we played would have changed the result though.

Everything has to be spot on from us to get a result in these games and you have to hope you catch them on a bad day.

At this moment in time, considering how utter shite the squad has looked, crap league form and crap between the final days of Ancelotti and the beginnings of Moyes Part 2, as long as we are going in the right direction and can establish ourselves just within the top half of the table then I'm fine with this and will accept that we won't have much chance of competing to win in those away games against Liverpool, Chelsea, Man City and Arsenal. I mean, it's not like we won or were going to win any of those fixtures under Benitez, Lampard or Dyche.

Saying Moyes' record at Anfield, Stamford Bridge, the Emirates and even Old Trafford is genuinely appalling, for a manager with his experience and ability to mould struggling teams into strong Premier League outfits. Did he even succeed once in getting a victory at those grounds when he was at West Ham, Sunderland or even Man Utd? Even small clubs like Brighton and Bournemouth manage to get some victories there every so often.

Find it pretty hard to be down on Moyes today, they're at home and they've spent half a billion and have beaten everyone they come across so far. We're still fitting square pegs in round holes with some of the team and having to get our players later than they did we're still really finding our feet as a team too. This is not a level playing field. Didn't get it right first half and it cost us but it feels like we have to do everything perfectly on these days to get a win and we didn't today.

Arteta rolling up with a billion pound Arsenal squad and playing for a 0-0...that feels more like cowardice if we're labelling things. We tried one approach, it didn't work. We got better and arguably dominated them even with all their money spent at their place for a decent spell but wasn't quite enough. I'd hope for better down the line but with things as we are right now they have every advantage and we're playing catchup.

I feel like I watch a different game to others at times. The long balls weren’t working. At first.
Liverpool were playing very well and we were leaving gaps through the middle for them.
The long balls started to work as their defence were heading it out and we got to move right up the pitch.
Change made at half time and we got even better.

I’m not faulting Moyes for this loss personally. The ref had a bigger influence on the result than anyone.

First 20 minutes at Anfield is always a storm. I dont think we were solid enough in midfield to manage that first 20, ye Beto was shit at holding it up but we had big gaps in the middle when it broke down.
