Re: Tyler Dibling
Bit concerned about what type of player he is. Really expected him to be constantly running at defenders and dribbling past them in a Grealish / Ndaiye sort of middle ground. Just doesn't seem like he's got any burst of acceleration or that determination to beat people.
Early days I know but was expecting a lot more from him tonight and at the very least some dangerous running with the ball.

Re: Tyler Dibling
Looked bright I thought. Got JOB, Tim, Garner, Barry and Alcaraz to link up with in his first real match for the club, so no surprise he didn't actually get anywhere.
Re: Tyler Dibling
I've got no worries about Dibling, he's an exceptional talent, very young. We could have spent some of the money on whatever mediocre fullbacks were available, but I'm glad we've invested it in Dibling instead.
Needs to play with our full strength team more often.

Re: Tyler Dibling
I actually thought he was one of the few positives last night, few nice touches from him and as has been said he will be even better with good players around him. He’s got lots of potential and is one for the future. Look forward to seeing more of him as the season goes on
Man we need new fullbacks though

Re: Tyler Dibling
Yeah, not worried about him. I think we need to find ways to get him in to space to run at defenders and then we'll see more of that ball-carrying ability that he's definitely got.
At the moment it looks more like he's having to come short and receive the ball in to his feet with his back to goal, usually with a defender already on him so he's having to lay the ball off more often than be progressive with it.
He still managed that lovely little bit of footwork to get out of a tight space with 2 or 3 defenders around him right on the touchline though, you can see the ability that's there.

Re: Tyler Dibling
Is a bit mad that we've been screaming for a right winger for years, so we go and buy this kid for a big big fee
And it ends up being actually our left winger is our RW?

Re: Tyler Dibling
The result of having 2 top quality LWs, one of which can play RW.
Don't think it'll necessarily be a bad thing to bed Dibling in, especially as there's a high chance that in 12 months time at least one of those LWs you refer to will not be here and we'll be needing a RW.

Re: Tyler Dibling
He definitely should’ve been kept on with Grealish and KDH last night.
I also would’ve preferred Barry to stay on at that point, too.

Re: Tyler Dibling
Barry fucked it with his yellow card, and you can't really not bring on your top scorer (Ndiaye) if you're losing with half an hour to go.sam of the south wrote: ↑Wed Sep 24, 2025 8:02 am He definitely should’ve been kept on with Grealish and KDH last night.

Re: Tyler Dibling
Yeah, forgot about the yellow.
Touch and go on the Ndiaye thing.
In retrospect, leaving KDH on the bench, keeping Dibling on the right, and having Grealish and Ndiaye on in the centre and the left would’ve been my preference.
Re: Tyler Dibling
He is very young and has lovely attributes. It’s going to take him a while to settle in and become accustomed to what Moyes and the side need.
I certainly want to see him being a bit quicker in terms of tempo and also be busier. Whether that means getting fitter and / or sharper I’m not sure. But lots to work on. He will need to do more defensively in a Moyes team - quite a few times he lost his man down the flank and didn’t keep up with play.
I also think he lacked confidence to take his man on. When he did, he looked great, but he just held back when he received the ball one on one versus the fullback which is the opposite of what he should be doing in their final third.
The great thing is that we can take our time with him as we have two fantastic wide players at the club.

Re: Tyler Dibling
I was a bit disappointed by his performance as he seems a few seasons off really challenging for the starting RW slot. You can see the talent we’ve paid for in the few flashes of brilliance but his defending, determination, and decision making are all very poor atm. I think it’ll be worth the wait and fee if he does really meet his potential but there’s a lot to improve on.
