He was having a good game and one of the few back ups that can produce something.

Amazing Iroegbunam stayed on over him.
Yep agree, although not a lot came off for him he's always trying to make things happen and he was the one working hard to close down the defenders whilst Barry just logged about.

Moyes just doesn't seem to fancy him even though imo he's got a lot of potential.

Can he play further back?

He can tackle, chase, is competitive and has a great engine. If he can play instead of Tim - this would make a lot of sense to me. Plus, driving forward when there is space in front of him would allow us to have more men forward in attack.

Was thinking I wouldn't mind him playing somewhere else.

Like back in Southampton, maybe?

lol

I know you’re not keen on our Charly - or Tim, or Kiernan, or Jimmy, or Beto, or Thierno, or Vitalii, or Adam, or Dwight - but this is who we have to work with after our first window post losing a dozen players.

Au contraire, he said we'd signed a hell of a striker in the summer with Barry

I like Barry!

Don't mind Beto, is what he is but he's gone this summer.

Myko does a job but needs upgrading.

Who the hell is Adam? Is that Aznous name? Not seen him really. Need another 5-6 minutes before I make a judgement.

I did say that within two weeks of the season starting Moyes would realise neither of them could trap a bag of sand and would regret not having a third striker.

I just don't mind having a high ceiling potential player who's very young.

As an aside, is he very young? It feels like people treat him like a teenager when he's had a full season in a top league under his belt and is older than Alcaraz. He's 23 next month.

Yeah that's young, he's also not played THAT much footy so plenty of development to come.

Charly is a similar age but has more football. I also personally just don't like him as much in terms of the type of player he is / could be.

Just not sure what he brings. Granted he's not really had that consistent run of games to grow into a position or role but aside from a few glimpses he seems to flatter to deceive.

Sometimes feel like our fan base doesn’t understand young footballers.

He looks great in transition when he gets the ball early and has a chance to drive with it, he also tries to play the right passes, the ball to Dibling against Wolves was great and his finish in the other cup game was too.

Good potential and tons of heart, but his mistake asking for the ball shows that his decision making isn't there right now. He didn't cost much and I think he should be seen as an option to come off the bench when the game opens up.

The issue with saying 'He didn't cost much' whenever another one of our buys doesn't turn out to be quite what we had hoped for is that eventually these players add up to pretty significant sums of money. Beto, Alcaraz, Patterson, McNeil for example are north of £50m. That's serious money, not the type of funds you can throw about for a punt or two.

At some point you would hope our scouting starts to go up a notch.

Let’s not forget Patterson was signed by that completely useless shitehawk manager who really didn’t give a toss
