He missed a bagful for Leeds at the weekend.

Re: Beto
To be fair, he had maybe one pass that played to his strengths (don't come at me, he does have some) last night, admittedly he fucked it up and it resulted in a goal kick, but I do have some sympathy for him.
I think his head's gone, he thought he was going to be the main man but didn't get going in pre-season. Moyes then called him out directly and spent 40m on another striker.

Re: Beto
I'm having a bit more sympathy to the strikers after these first set of games.
I can't really get mad at Beto for not being a target man and being bad when asked to do it. That's far more a managerial issue for me, when we have two strikers and it's not working with either of them then something should be changing with the tactics.

Re: Beto
People saying we don't play to Beto's strengths are correct, but also how grim we're still playing a striker who can't do the basic things strikers do when it comes to controlling a pass and holding up the ball.
It's not like we're really asking him to do some elite level thing that only a few can do effectively. It's proper basic centre forward play.
He can't do it and I appreciate the tactics need to mask this as much as possible, but the fact we spent £25m on this guy will always baffle me, and the fact we still try and get by with him as a focal point doubly so.

Re: Beto
At this point hes a much less busy niasse. His level this season has been beyond unacceptable. Hes leagues and leagues below the required standard. Odd thing is he ended last season actually playing very well. Its an absolute miracle hes still our starting striker. The miracle being that Barry is actually worse. Came on last night and the bar couldn't have been lower and he passed right under it without touching it or the bloody ball
We have bought the vilest collection of shite strikers possible. Probably about 150m over the last number of years on strikers who are nowhere near good enough for premier league football. So bad neil maupay would be a vast improvement

Re: Beto
The one time we did actually play a ball in behind there wasn't any point where he looked in control or looked like he knew what he was going to do.
It ended with him bizarrely doing a strange Maradona turn to take it out for a goal kick going away from goal.
Was really bizzare and I just don't think he's got it in him.
Looks like he is sulking a bit too.

That was absolutely pathetic, had a chance to get a shot off and totally fumbled it.Cozzie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 5:09 pm The one time we did actually play a ball in behind there wasn't any point where he looked in control or looked like he knew what he was going to do.

Re: Beto
Think he kept trying to lean into a defender he was already half past and completely lost his balance because there was nowt to lean against.Cozzie wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 5:09 pm The one time we did actually play a ball in behind there wasn't any point where he looked in control or looked like he knew what he was going to do.

Been 1 of his biggest defenders but hes beyond crap. Massive waste of space
Re: Beto
I think it's becoming more and more obvious the only reason he's here and why we went for him was because Udinese where the only club willing to accept deferring the payments to the next financial year.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Tue Sep 30, 2025 6:39 pm Think he kept trying to lean into a defender he was already half past and completely lost his balance because there was nowt to lean against.

We may have tried for others but that's the restraints we where up against at the time.
Anyone who properly scouted him would never have signed him.

Re: Beto
Maybe but in reality how many premier league strikers can't hold up the ball?Cereal Killer wrote: ↑Thu Oct 02, 2025 4:46 am More like he’s sick of Moyes trying to make him a target man
If he's sick of being used that way and isn't willing to work on his game to be competent at this level then that's on him not the manager.
