I quite like the pettiness, and it's a chance for social media engagement - as much as we might hate it, it's important for a business.

9 in a row now for Pickford. Hasn't conceded for England in over a year. I don't care who the opposition are, that's some going fair play.

He's world class.

Tbf to Dixon, its something we've considered, why hasn't a CL team come in for him. ("CL club" probably would have been a better choice of phrase than "big club").

In answer I would say as he is so animated, that likely puts managers off. They probably have a quality backline of egos to manage and the thought of bringing in a mad northern windup merchant between the sticks to scream at them might rock the boat a little bit too much. I love his mentality to be honest, its a throw back to 80's and 90's goalies and keeps everyone on their toes, but I can see why more risk averse title chasing managers might give him a pass.

Yeah especially after the first three points the social media team lists as a fact something extremely subjective as “one of the most passionate fan bases in the world”.

At least they didn’t brag we were the first ever club to install undersoil heating.

I dont mind that, we need to manifest something, bored of being the meek club not achieving anything, going quietly.

I know that's not going to win us a trophy, but there's Forest and Palace players in the squad - does that mean if we finish 8th Dixon etc will approve of Pickford? It's just nonsense, obvious against Pickford because he had a bad spell of form 5 years ago. I'm glad the club are vocal about it.

Got no issue at all with the club’s social media team banging the drum. We are a big club. Founder members of the football league, longest unbroken run of top flight football, pioneers of the game with a whole list of firsts in the English game - undersoil heating is just one of many. We are a club steeped in history, yet pricks like Lee Dixon still see us as some little plucky underdog. Yes, it's 30 years since our last trophy, which is unacceptable for a club of our stature. However, we remain a "big club"

Don’t think a big club gets rattled by Lee Dixon to be fair

Yeah think thats the issue here, a 'big club' wouldnt be arsed by what someone like Dixon says.

It's worth reminding people, be nice to do it on the pitch though. We're not a Stoke or Huddersfield no matter how many years we've been without success.

If Man United didn't win anything for the next 30 years then they'd still be a big club and have the media licking their hoop.

We arent a big club in the context Dixon meant it. No one says why doesn't a player sign for a club because they are a founding member or because they won something 40 years ago.
