Thierno Barry
Re: Thierno Barry
Beto was unbelievably bad when he came on. Barry went off a bit after the miss but he was still having an okay match overall.
Shocking man management from Moyes, I'm afraid.

Re: Thierno Barry
The lad is obviously under pressure, and things like subbing him off so early after half time only add to that. Again it smacks of Moyes being more concerned with making a statement about the recruitment rather than looking after the player.
Barry's all round play was fine tonight, but obviously the miss was a shocker and can't really be defended. Feel like we've got to persevere with him now though for the benefit of the team, at least until January

Re: Thierno Barry
Just another morale sapping substitution for the lad, still looked absolutely gutted when they showed him on the bench about 10 minutes from the end.
You'd hate to be a young player under Moyes, what was it recently, 185 league games without starting a teenager. And people want to bring Armstrong back!

Re: Thierno Barry
Was just after Beto tried some kind of leaping 360 chest on a 60 yard pumped ball that of course sailed past him out of bounds without him getting a touch on it.Gash wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 10:23 pm Just another morale sapping substitution for the lad, still looked absolutely gutted when they showed him on the bench about 10 minutes from the end.

Re: Thierno Barry
I thought he did ok in the first half too, and I don't think there was any mention that KDH got a late touch on the ball as it came in which must have put him off somewhat. Harsh not to have given him longer.
Re: Thierno Barry
His confidence is shot. Not sure what the answer is though if he can’t register one shot on target all season and misses sitters.

Re: Thierno Barry
Definite improvement from Barry but he's still way off being any kind of threat to most defences.
Even in the build up to the big chance he missed he nearly lost all momentum from the attack.
Despite that I think Moyes has to realise that Barry is just as likely to score as Beto and still has time on his side if handled correctly.

Re: Thierno Barry
Looks over at the bench and sees Beto about to come on, shakes his head in disbelief and frustration about being hooked early again despite his best performance of the season.
Let's face it he missed a sitter, and that cost us the win... but remove that from the equation and he'd worked hard all night, completed physically for the first time and was looking like he was building some confidence. Maybe he gets a goal of he stays on and the miss is forgotten and his confidence soars?
Maybe not but at least give him enough time on the pitch that it feels like a natural substitution point instead of being hooked for under performing, when in fact he was far better than his replacement.
Just terrible man management by Moyes, if we want the lad to succeed then you can't be knocking him down instead of building him up.
Hopefully Moyes puts an arm round him, gives him another start next game and shows some faith in the lad as he was fairly decent tonight. Very raw but didn't look lost and stood up to the physical demands of the league well.

Re: Thierno Barry
Think if he scored that they still make it 2-2 tbh.
We were completely out of the game from that miss.
I’d be signing two full backs, a centre mid and possibly another centre half before I’d be going in for a striker.
No point having someone to score goals when you don’t have a midfield or proper defence.

Re: Thierno Barry
I kinda feel this is over egging the pudding a bit. He was ok, some good stuff some not so good stuff. It's a very low bar if we're saying that was anything more than a 6 out of 10 performance taking the miss out the equation. You have to be really, really good at the off the ball stuff like DCL could be at times to negate the lack of a goal threat though, and I don't think he's there yet. He also torpedoed himself with the yellow card as it adds pressure to take him off.AjaxAndy wrote: ↑Mon Nov 03, 2025 10:55 pm Looks over at the bench and sees Beto about to come on, shakes his head in disbelief and frustration about being hooked early again despite his best performance of the season.

So mildly better yes, but Moyes is choosing between two out of sorts options which admittedly he doesn't seem like he's helping with how he's using them. I don't think we're giving either particularly great service to work with.
I have some sympathy for Moyes with this issue, but I also think he desperately needs to rethink the players on the pitch and how we're trying to get the ball forwards at times as too often we're just hoping Ndiaye or Grealish do something special.

Re: Thierno Barry
I would honestly get him a loan move in January, he’s miles off it.
As much as we need the fullbacks sorted, I’d prioritise a number nine in January.
