Certainly, a huge chasm between the EPL and the EFL in terms of regulation. Parry almost gleeful and Masters squirming. But, as I say, hard to be objective.
I got the same impression. Masters was on the defensive whereas Parry was almost welcoming the questions, especially on the regulator.

Just stinks, doesn't it?

There are so many aspects that just lack any sort of good faith.

For starters, you have an independent panel that includes West Ham's former finance director during the Tevez/Mascherano affair and a former Leeds legal representative who is also a member of the FA Premier League panel. Then you have it leaked that the Premier League are suggesting a 12 point deduction. Why are they suggesting anything at all?

It gets onto the actual punishment and it's a 10 point deduction. Why? Apparently it just is. There's no framework, there's no explanation of how they've got to that point. It's just a 10 point deduction for being £19.5m over the limit.

That limit itself being an arbitrary figure that was decided 10 years ago and hasn't changed since. To give that some perspective, the record transfer fee paid by a British club in 2013 was still Robinho to Man City at £32.5m and ten years later, Chelsea (who btw aren't being charged as things stand) have two £100m+ central midfielders in their starting XI.

So then they charge Everton again for double the punishment along with Nottingham Forest. In order to avoid the farcical nature of punishing teams in different seasons, they say that it's all going to be decided in the same season. No appeals will be concluded until after the season has ended though where the 'independent panel' will have the full Premier League table in front of them of them when they make their decision. In the unlikely event they would treat Everton/Forest favourably then you could have Luton celebrating staying up on the final day only to be relegated two weeks later. In what world is that football?

Oh and this farce of a process that Everton and Forest are going through? Oh yeah, they're ripping it up in August which is coincidentally before Man City's day of reckoning. Man City's date of that reckoning? Oh no, they can't tell you that.

That's without getting into the fact that these rules only exist to keep Liverpool/Man United/Arsenal at the top and prevent any other club breaking into the establishment.

It's blatantly obvious to see what's happening here and it's an absolute disgrace.

Which would be a great answer if the super league 6 e leaving wouldn't have had an almighty effect on every single club in the English pyramid... and our £19.5m overspend had very little effect on anything at all.

Excuse my ignorance, but what was this panel for and does it hold any influence in the decision making regarding our initial punishment and any further punishment for the second breach?

IMO they (the panel) didn't screw down hard enough on specific points enough. masters opened doors that they could've but didn't jump thru. If they'd have put him under the cosh on those points he'd of bottled it and dropped himself right in i reckon.

The panel is a regular governance meeting they hold i think it's every quarter. It's obviously made the headlines due to what's gone on in the past few months.

The worst thing for me is there's still no framework.

3 different committees. 4 if you count our appeal and each outcome could be completely different. There's not even a starting point then mitigation deducting some.

We could find ourselves 20pts down for 28m over 4 years with mitigation while someone else could have 2pts suspended for a year for 200m without mitigation. It wouldn't even be corrupt or biased just the fact the committees are allowed to feel however they like about what's a sensible punishment

I think it's also valid to question just how independent the independent panel are given they gave us EXACTLY the punishment the Premier League advised.

I feel like many they want a scapegoat and it's us, they won't give City what they deserve and City know it, what happened to the Spurs allegations over the agents? surely that should have come up this time around, they've thrown in Forest another club out of the top tier who won't cause much fuss judging by their statement this morning. We've been architects of our own downfall for decades don't get me wrong we've always been lead by arseholes, that's why plenty said we needed Moyes back when we had the chance for his nouse in the transfer market and they were right, we had the chance early-ish on in Moshiri's tenure to have him back but we thought we were too Charlie big time we are a joke.
It started badly with the shithouse Koeman and carried on ever since with nobody with a clue keeping tabs above, made ourselves easy targets in the process, we do seem to have a fair bit of sympathy amongst a lot of journo's and pundits thoughi, they've killed the rest of the season with dread now, how dare we appeal.
