You just take European qualification whenever you can get it. There is no right or wrong time to do things. You get it and then you have a new set of challenges which you try to negotiate as well as possible, and you judge the management on how they handle that.

Doesn't make sense to think we have money to spend and then just be like 'nah we'll not bother buying full backs, let's keep that money until halfway through the season'.

It's not about being a know it all, it's about common sense.

All we have to do is find a striker who can score, a 6, a 10 or a winger good enough to let ndiaye/grealish play there, a right back, and a left back and thats just the first 11.

Then we need cover for half of those and some others not mentioned.

At no point did I or anyone say we didnt want to be back in Europe. We all want to be back, but the timing is the problem.

What they did say, is that next season is probably too soon and I share their concerns. Based on the state of our squad, and how much we can realistically invest and improve between now and and then, adding another competition could do more harm than good.

It's precisely because of the last 10 years that I'd want us to be more stable, and have a bigger, stronger squad before we add even more games into the mix.

I totally get what you’re saying here. It could be a stretch that breaks us. Sets us back for some time.

But that’s only one possibility. What about the other? That European competition helps us to attract a higher level of talent, that we get at least some of the recruitment right - enough to build on, and that the competition brings in more revenue and tv money.

It could go either way. No one’s right or wrong here, some are just ready to roll the dice and ride the rollercoaster, whatever the ups and downs.
