Tyler Dibling
Re: Tyler Dibling
Really hard to judge the lad still for me. Didn't do anything of note tonight but again the lad hasn't started a game to get a run at it. Hard to build confidence when you are brought on randomly without a fullback behind you.

Re: Tyler Dibling
I thought he was fine, did a couple of nice touches.
Also liked Röhl’s pace and willingness to press and carry the ball. Shame we didn’t keep up with him when he broke.
Can only really judge these new, young players when they have a run of starting games, it’s so hard to match the pace of a game when you come on late on, particularly when you’re losing to the league leaders.

Appears lazy to me, might not be a fair evaluation, but that's the vibe I'm getting.
Re: Tyler Dibling
Hopefully we don't waste his minutes on McNeil over the next month. Would like to see how he gets on against the likes of Burnley and Wolves.
Re: Tyler Dibling
Havent seen enough in these small glimpses to suggest he's ready, likely why he hasn't had the minutes. I doubt it's a Moyes issue.
There's a lot to be said for Prem-ready professional and experienced footballers. Had we had a couple more today we might have held out for a point, or more.
Looked average off the ball, going through the motions, asleep when needed, and not the intensity when the game required it.
Isn't at the pace of the game yet, hoping he learns a bit more from it for next week.

Re: Tyler Dibling
Hope there’s somebody at the club giving him good advice and pointers like Cods has in the post above.
Re: Tyler Dibling
He's another who will suffer from our lack of attacking full back options. Doesn't seem particularly quick and wants to cut inside meaning a rapid overlapping RB is required to give him the space he needs to work in. On a hiding to nothing if he plays with JOB behind him.
Re: Tyler Dibling
There was a moment when there was a 50/50 ball in the midfield, and he chose to jog into it and make a half hearted sort of hustle, lost obviously and arsenal broke and I just thought...that's not Everton and it never will be.
There's room for sauce in our future I hope but I just cannot see how this young man manages to start contributing to this side when he looks this far off.
My opinion of him when he first came through at Southampton was - you'd be made up with a player of his ability coming through the academy, but you'd never pay for him.
It's yet to change.

Re: Tyler Dibling
Beyond everything else (not a position we needed a signing in, not good enough, too expensive) hes the wrong type of winger. Who looks at our squad and decides pace isnt a vital attitude for all signings going forwards

Re: Tyler Dibling
Not sure why the summer turned into a long protracted affair to get him. If he became available for a decent price and no-one else was really interested then he may have been worth a look but I'm not seeing why our recruitment team went in so hard on him. All the talk around him before we signed him was he was laid back, didn't want to leave the south coast, Saints fans saying he blew hot and cold in games and Southampton themselves were playing hard ball and demanding silly money.
Just a really bizarre set of events considering we were desperate for players with a different profile.

Re: Tyler Dibling
I think people are jumping the gun with him. He's played 97 minutes of PL football over the course of 8 appearances this season. That's on the back of only playing one season of proper football in his career so far. Someone like Anthony Elanga in the same position is stinking the gaff out at Newcastle despite costing more, having more experience and playing with much better players.
He's got a lot to prove with end product but he's a really good dribbler and he's a combative winger as shown from his time at Southampton. Throw in a conservative manager who played Lescott for a year at LB ahead of Leighton Baines then I think there's too much expectation on Dibling because of the price tag.
I hope he gets some starts in the next few matches that allows him to kick on a bit. Judging him on such little game time is short-sighted imo.

Im not sure people are really judging his potential more the signing against what we actually neededShogun wrote: ↑Sun Dec 21, 2025 11:24 am I think people are jumping the gun with him.
