Instead of Barry, not playing off.

Never go back and all that.

I would take him and give him 60 minutes. Tell him I’m hooking him for Barry on 60 mins every game unless he’s on a hat-trick.

Still gotta develop T-Baz like, there’s a player in there, he’s just in the worst team to learn in at the minute.

“So just go up top Barry lad, by yourself and get the goals in for us, kid.”

“So le team’s set up to service a lone striker and give moi chances to covert is it?”

“Er….

….no.”

Yeah I reckon they'd be keen to give up their top scorer.

Same. Probably better right now than Beto or Barry, but such a tiny margin that I’d be happier sticking with Barry.

Hard to tell with Larsen, looked great on loan but this season has been pretty awful. Is that down to the big move to Newcastle falling through and he's thrown his toys out of the pram? Or have defenders worked him out a bit? Can happen with some forwards after an initial splash. Or maybe Wolves have just been terrible and not created enough chances? Haven't watched enough of Wolves to know which of those is more likely.

Is he a great sniffer of goals around the box. Thought hed got about 6 non penalty goals for us in his last season. Hasn't done much at spurs either.

The problem is he'll probably be on double what hes worth now

And there’s the problem one lone striker up front against 3-4 defenders !! We’re the only team I watch that when we attack there’s either only 1 maybe sometimes 2 people in the box……why day think we don’t score many goals ?
Our defenders and midfielders score more than our strikers…….

I’m not having Barry at all, said from the beginning and if anything he’s only made me feel more convinced he’s a dud, in this country anyway. Love to be proved wrong, but I doubt I will be.

What’s clear that just lobbing him up there on his own in this system is not an optimal development strategy for someone like him, but sadly, we’re out of options.

When you factor in moving to a new stadium, new CEO, a new recruitment team and bringing in players in terms of numbers, I felt it was alot to to do in one summer. We were never going to address all the issues in one window and it winds me up why people fail to see that. We were also never going too bring in the quality of players based on the past several seasons of flirting with relegation. It's a rebuild which will take a couple of seasons. £100 million spent in the summer window isn't a great outlay.

Improvement is top 10, anything better great, expecting us to somehow be european contenders from where we have been whilst adapting to a new home is just wild.

Me neither. Im absolutely not qualified to judge his potential but as a premier league player right now hes been miles off. Hes not even having moments. People are setting the bar incredibly low for him to praise him. If he comes short traps it and lays it off a couple of times people claim hes done well.

Hope im wrong but think hes an absolute dud and I suspect his minutes will completely dry up when we have other options. I dont think hes 1 we'll even try and develop. He'll be on loan as soon as we have enough options to allow it

Looking at the dogshit options other teams in our financial weight class are looking at makes me feel just fine about the Barry business.

Not having Larsen at all (especially for some of the stupid prices quoted) and I also saw West Ham linked to Haji Wright, who is largely terrible despite some decent form for Coventry this season.

This is mostly a supply issue. Our wide players do their damage inside where passing lanes are blocked off. We do not have fullbacks getting to the byline for cutbacks and dinked crosses nor do we have anyone playing throughballs through the middle (which was Beto’s entire diet last season).

We can look enviously at DCL but he’d be shit here just like all our other options. Given another season and a more complete team that creates chances for a CF, Barry will be just fine and will end up looking like a bargain.

Fair enough to those that don’t rate him, I get your frustrations, but I strongly disagree. We can’t pass the ball through the middle or work decent crosses. We’re a garbage attacking team and nobody except the most complete forwards in the world (a class of player we cannot afford) is doing anything up top in this team as currently constructed.
