I think he was, based on that match in pre-season I'm not so sure. He looked the slowest player on the pitch before being hooked.

Re: Jake O'Brien
That pre-season cameo by Patterson really was pretty disastrous. The one thing I thought he had for sure was pace and that's a big asset for a RB, but he looked like he was running in slow motion in that game. Maybe he was injured, or injuries have taken their toll but we've not really seen him since to know either way.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Think he had a hernia issue so that may have been slowing him.
We need to get him out on loan in January or sold in the summer, he's clearly not in Moyes plans and when he'd rather take JOB off and put Garner right back than bring him on that says it all.

Re: Jake O'Brien
Would be willing to give him another chance if that’s the case.
When he got beaten to a ball he should have gotten by Max Kilman, I immediately wrote him off. There’s no way you can play full back at this level if slightly above average CBs are doing you for pace like that.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Patterson isn’t even in the conversation anymore. Bought as potential and hasn’t realised any of it. Move him on and move on.

Re: Jake O'Brien
For the love of the Scotland national team, please get Patterson somewhere in January where he will actually play regularly and be in contention for the World Cup squad.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Even if he does he's probably about fourth choice behind Hickey, Ralston and Max Johnston now.toffee_scot wrote: ↑Mon Dec 22, 2025 10:20 pm For the love of the Scotland national team, please get Patterson somewhere in January where he will actually play regularly and be in contention for the World Cup squad.

Re: Jake O'Brien
A shame this never worked out, a loan in January would be best for him, but I’m sure he’s out of contract this summer anyway so no good to us. Should have loaned him out back in august til this window when the Spaniards wanted him, and took it from there.
Re: Jake O'Brien
Can't see any point in loaning him, get him sold, he's had 52 managers think he's shite at EFC, they could be on to something

Re: Jake O'Brien
Ive said it before, like but he needs games. 13 games for Rangers and 49 for us. Most of those are sub appearances.
He’s averaging 12 appearances a year for the last 5 years and still being talked about for the national team.
I’m convinced the lad’s got talent. And if we get rid now - what will we get for him? £4M? Free?
Send him on loan for a bit, get some games in his legs regularly and find out once and for all if he’s still a footballer.

Re: Jake O'Brien
Whens his contract up? I think hes done. Probably overhyped to begin with and now lost maybe 100 games of his development. Hes never looked like he can defend and his attacking ability has been massively overstated too.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Thu Dec 25, 2025 6:14 am Ive said it before, like but he needs games. 13 games for Rangers and 49 for us. Re: Jake O'Brien
Maybe. But are we in a position financially or squad size to just fuck him off on a free, when a year at Preston might galvanise the lad into a useable asset or a saleable asset.777Kidnappings wrote: ↑Thu Dec 25, 2025 12:17 pm Whens his contract up? Invest a season of matches in the lad’s development, that’s all I’m saying. Shocking to say of a professional footballer of 24yo - but he’s never had that before.

Id definitely loan him out. Nothing to lose because it appears we've no intention to play him.Toddacelli wrote: ↑Thu Dec 25, 2025 1:39 pm Maybe.
