Match day thread closed, but pretty unlucky not to get the penalty if KDH one was given. He caught it really well too.

Yes I'd love to hear an offcial explanation on what the difference was..., the honest answer should be... "fuck knows, probably depended on what the the VAR official had for breakfast."

Why they can't use reaction time is beyond me. If ball from foot to hand is less than 0.5 seconds (or some other arbitrary number), its deemed impossible for the player to react and to get the hand out of way in time... unless there is overwhelming evidence that it was intentional. Just start with the premise that it was an accident, if a defender gets away with one in a blue moon, sobeit, but it will eliminate 95% of unintentional handballs where VAR is just tossing a coin and basically bringing their integrity into question.

That was his 3 moments in the game from different angles, fleshed out with a hand through his hair. :D

Good from the club to get his confidence up though.. I'm sort of backing myself into a corner of being overly critical of the lad, I dont mean to be. I'm very much fascinated about what he can become.

Just needs to work a bit harder.

You weren’t watching him properly then…some of the crosses he put in especially in the first half were as good as we’ve seen all season…pity it was Beto in there not Barry……

Come on.....I watched the whole game.

He curled 1 ball into the right area from the edge of the box, which Beto was late on, he lobbed one ball toward the penno spot that Alcaraz did well to get some power behind. The little flick and run in behind that he made, he ended up crossing the ball into the side netting and he showed quick feet to draw a foul from his full back to win a free kick on the edge of the box.

Not having that it was some masterclass in winger play and crossing. He was a 6 or 7/10, which is fine.

Just needs to work a bit harder off the ball.

Spot on, hopefully he gets a bit of confidence and quickly learns you need to work hard to play in a blue shirt for Moyes

Come on Matt….i never mentioned “masterclass” in winger play merely trying to point out he deserved more credit than you were giving him…what the tv camera misses you see live at the game when you’re not just watching the ball….
One thing I will say though he does have this sort of languid laid back body language ala Chris waddle…..which may sway people’s opinion……butlook how he turned out….

He deserves another runout but probably pointless as if he gets into a decent crossing position there’s only going to be Barry in the box anyway and he’s not the best at finding space, so we’ll be treated to him checking back to not lose the ball and nothing much happening. Again.

Yeah I mentioned Chris Waddle myself a couple of pages back too.

No, but you did say it was as good a demonstration of crossing as we'd seen all season, which I thought was overselling it a bit, maybe more a reflection on our poor crossing in general. :)

Anyway, it was the best we've seen of him and I want to see more. I will be as pissed off as anyone if he doesnt start against Forest.

I think he’s one like Barry.

Far from the finished article, you’re not going to like everything right now, but you have to play him so he can learn on the job and grow into someone who’s going to be a major contributor next season and beyond. Especially so when Ndiaye’s out and there’s zero opportunity cost.

Inexcusable for him to be behind Dwight McNeil’s corpse in the pecking order.

If he's making 8 SCA in a game where he wasn't great then please sign me up for more of this.

I liked it a lot and want to see more. I don't expect him to play every game like, he will deffo be rotated in and out but it was a very clear GOOD signal that we shouldn't ignore.

Obv can't live off the odd game where he looks bright (all this was really), but it's a good signal and I want more of em.
